Meet Riley James 📸🌄

Originally from Ventura, CA, Riley brings a super unique mix of creativity, adventure, and positive energy to the Zion Guide Hub team. Before joining us, she worked as a photographer and content creator for some huge companies and she still runs her own photography business on the side shooting weddings, portraits, music, events, and more.

When she’s not out guiding in Zion, you can usually find her hiking, practicing yoga, road tripping, cooking, gardening, reading, or chasing sunsets with a camera in hand 📷

🇺🇸 Memorial Day Weekend in Zion is HERE 🇺🇸

It’s one of the busiest weekends of the year in Zion National Park, so here are a few pro tips from the locals to help you make the most of your adventure 👇

1️⃣ Shuttle lines can reach 1+ hour waits by mid-morning. Skip the lines and explore Zion by e-bike 🚴

2️⃣ Get into the park EARLY. We recommend arriving around 6 AM if you want a quieter experience and cooler temperatures.

3️⃣ Don’t just stay in the main canyon. Some of the best adventures are OUTSIDE the park! Try canyoneering, climbing, hiking, or mountain biking for fewer crowds and epic scenery.

4️⃣ Parking fills up FAST in Springdale and inside the park. Plan ahead and arrive early.

5️⃣ Temperatures are heating up ☀️ Bring more water than you think you need and don’t underestimate the desert.

Guide Spotlight: Colby 🔥

Meet Colby! One of our newest guides this season! Fresh out of Colorado, he’s jumping into his first year with us and already fitting right in.

His “I can do hard things” mindset kicked in early. At just 10 years old, he was hiking out of a hot canyon with a heavy pack, thinking he wasn’t gonna make it… until he reached the top and realized he was tougher than he thought. That moment stuck with him.

Before this, Colby was already hustling, running his own company in high school, hiring his buddies, and working construction. Hard work is nothing new to him.

When we asked why he chose Zion and our team, his answer was simple: the people and the mission. We’re stoked he’s here.

Outside of guiding, you’ll catch him canyoneering, playing sports, kicking it with friends and family, or crushing Café Rio. His fuel? Peanut butter M&Ms and sour gummy worms. When he needs to recharge, he’s usually journaling or watching something like Top Gun or Interstellar.

What hits him hardest about Zion? “The cliff walls make you feel so small — it really puts life into perspective.”

Colby’s goals this season are straightforward:
• Learn the area inside and out
• Pick up new skills
• Keep growing into himself

We’re pumped to have him on the team and can’t wait to watch him crush it out here. If you run into Colby on the trail, you’re in good hands 🤝

Guide Spotlight: Colby 🔥

Say what’s up to Colby! One of the newest faces on our guide team this season! Coming out of Colorado, Colby is stepping into his first year with us and already bringing the kind of mindset we love to see.

His story starts early… at just 10 years old, grinding his way out of a canyon hike in the heat with a heavy pack, convinced it was the end 😅—until he made it to the top and realized something big: he can do hard things. That mindset hasn’t left him since.

Before joining us, Colby was already making moves—running his own company in high school, hiring his friends, and putting in time in construction. Safe to say, hard work isn’t new to him.

When asked why Zion and why us, his answer says it all: the people and the mission. That’s what drew him in—and we’re glad it did.

Outside of guiding, you’ll find Colby canyoneering, playing sports, or hanging with friends and family. He’s a Café Rio fan, fueled by peanut butter M&Ms and sour gummy worms, and if he’s recharging, it’s journaling or watching a solid movie like Top Gun or Interstellar.

What fires him up about Zion?

GUIDE SPOTLIGHT: G 🌿

From the wildflowers and rivers of Minnesota to the red rock canyons of Zion, G’s connection to nature runs deep. Growing up exploring 160 acres of family land, she found comfort, beauty, and a sense of awe in the outdoors from a young age—and now she brings that same feeling to every guest she guides.

G made the move to Utah in 2025 to follow her passion, and it didn’t take long for her to find her place here. With years of hospitality experience and a natural ability to connect with people, she creates an experience that feels personal, welcoming, and genuine.

Whether she’s out hiking, sharing stories, or helping someone step outside their comfort zone, G is all about creating moments that stick with you long after the trip ends.

When she’s not guiding, you can find her doing yoga, making jewelry, reading, or chasing new adventures across the map.

We’re lucky to have her on the team 🤘

Guide Spotlight: Riley Hull 🔥

Three seasons deep with us and Riley has grown into one of the leaders of our guide crew. From training new guides to setting the tone out in the field, he’s someone the whole team looks up to.

Riley’s passion runs deep for backpacking, canyoneering, and pushing the limits, whether that’s deep in a slot canyon or chasing RPMs on his Yamaha R1.

When he’s off the clock, you’ll find him kicking back with his German Shepherd, Ragnar, recharging for the next adventure.

If you end up on a trip with Riley, you’re in seriously good hands.

Guide Spotlight of the Week: Liz 🎶🧗‍♀️

Originally from Memphis, Liz made her way out west to chase two things she loves most, music and the outdoors. Safe to say… she found both.

When she’s not guiding in Zion’s canyons, you’ll probably find her at the local crags climbing with her dog Peaches by her side. Strong on the wall and even stronger on trail, Liz brings an awesome energy to every trip she leads.
