The father son duo caught 31 fish this morning in total. 2 in which were caught on their first casts. A double! What a way to start the morning. 😀 Ryan caught his first walleye ever, which was pretty awesome. Then I went on the search for two rods that were lost in July. My eyes were glued to the screen looking for any sign of a St. Croix Legend with a Revo. What I found were hungry sturgeons. So I caught a few “reel” quick before heading in. Enjoy the kinda terrible videography! 😆🎣

Guide mistake #1. Not bringing a big enough net! Because you really never know what you’re going to catch on a crawler on the Croix! The sturgeon was 60”+. She left the sturgeon lines alone and bit my hand tied crawler rig with the eyeball bead. I believe she gilled the 15 lbs. fluorocarbon line on the flip. It’s a mad skill if you can get one of these river monsters in on a walleye rod near a log jam. It was the thrill of the morning! Lessons were learned.

2 PB’s and 2 new species knocked off of Owens list today! We started off the morning with a beautiful 4 pound smallmouth bass. And a few smaller ones as well. Then we watched the rod’s tips go crazy with mooneye and drum munching all morning. Mooneye make a perfect cut bait as them big eyes seem to entice the cats. We cast out the first line and boom 💥 instantly this beautiful channel cat eats! I’ve never seen it happen that fast, but the cast and timing aligned perfectly. Well done Owen!
