Day 3 in Quito! Teleferiqo Cable Car is one of the highest aerial lifts in the world on the Pichincha Volcano. Starting at 10,000 feet and going up to just under 14,000 feet above sea level. It was a 20 minute ride up. The views were amazing of the nearby Cotopaxi and Cayambe Volcanoes. After a short hike you can hop on a swing and “swing in the clouds”. There is an option to hike or bike down the mountain. There is a little cafe to grab coffee and a snack. My suggestion would be to go earlier in the day for a clear view of the other volcanoes and city below. There is a small amusement park located at the bottom of the lift area for families to enjoy as well.

Day 2 in Quito- time for dinner and the views!!! After a long day of hiking and site seeing we were happy to settle in at the hotel restaurant for dinner. Ecuadorian w**e, pasta, pork and ice cream!
After dinner we walked around the top floor and grabbed pictures of the Basilica and Virgin de El Panecillo all lit up. GORGEOUS!!

Not travel related BUT, I am wondering what type of documentaries do you watch or docu-series? I watched the Tyson documentary this past weekend and learned a lot!
Do you watch the paranormal shows? Sports documentaries? True crime? Travel destinations? What is my next watch?

Hi!! Sorry for the gap in posts. We got a little cold while traveling and took a few days to recover and recharge. We are all good and the posts continue now!

Day 2 in Quito continues! This is Inti Watana in Itchimbia Park. It means “hitching post of the sun” an astronomical or ceremonial space. This space served as a sacred site. During the June Solstice, the sun shines vertically over this area. Every year on June 21, the plaza hosts cultural ceremonies featuring traditional dance, Andean music and offerings to the Earth.

Day 2 continues-still within the Peguche waterfall park, you can pay an additional 50 cents per person to hike up the mountain even further for the views of the Imbabura volcano. But halfway there you are treated with another beautiful waterfall cave area. I strongly suggest taking your time and drink lots of water! There are switchbacks and loose dirt areas. Go nice and slow! My other suggestion is to go earlier in the day when it’s less warm. Did I mention to drink water?

Day 2 continues! After wandering around the market in Otavalo we had a short ride to Peguche Village. After paying 50 cents per person to enter the well maintained and protected forest, we hiked along a path to view the 59 foot waterfall- Cascada de Peguche. There are swimming holes that you can take a dip in, there is a camping area and a play area for the kids with bathrooms. There is a little store to buy drinks and snacks. Bring good hiking shoes or boots. Money for the bathroom and camera for taking pictures. There are some vendors outside the park to buy local crafts, food or clothing. Such a beautiful place to do a little hiking and see this hidden beauty!
