Texas Democrats are urging the Trump administration to delay its plans for building border barriers and roads across the West Texas park. Bulldozers and trucks bearing the logo of the contractor awarded $1.7 billion for the project were seen in the national park on Tuesday as local activists warn co...

The wall is still real, and more real than ever. We want Gov Abbott to publicly say that there is not a wall going through the national park. The National Park is on the map again somehow. It’s happening. Help us and call Gov Abbott (the judges and representatives have all said no this). It’s been months and Abbott has not addressed our concerns or our plea. The Big Bend Experience you have had will be destroyed.

Anyone who has driven past our stables has passed our herd of cows just next door, and possibly pulled over to take a picture. A picture not just of any cow, but a Longhorn with massive horns, stretching about 5 feet wide. Bo (also known as Touchdown, because it looked like he was signaling a touchdown with his horns) was a Longhorn/Watusi mix that was born and raised in Terlingua Creek by Dick Cain, later to be bought by Linda Walker, owner of the stables. Bo caught the eye and camera lens of many a tourist driving by.

Sadly, Bo passed away this week after a great long life of 26 years in Terlingua. He will forever be a bovine legend in this town! We would love to see any great pictures anyone has taken of him, and any nicknames you personally gave him.

And don’t worry, the lady cows aren’t lonely—they still have Steaks (our Terlingua Romeo) to keep them company 😏

Today, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection has once again updated its now-infamous "Smart Wall Map."

And yes, the border wall is back in Big Bend National Park. If anyone thought this was somehow over, it is very much not. Even though it's been relatively quiet on the news front, this public lands fight is as active as it's ever been. Literally nothing has changed in the past month.

The newly updated map shows a steel bollard border wall planned at four different locations in the national park, including the most popular put-in for river trips through Santa Elena Canyon. It also shows a wall along the entire Rio Grande Wild and Scenic River and through Amistad National Recreation Area.

All of these places are federal public land.

“If anything close to what’s on this map is built, it will go down as the biggest butchery inflicted on an American national park in the last century,” Laiken Jordahl, National Public Lands Advocate at the Center of Biological Diversity and staunch defender of the Big Bend region, said in an Instagram post today.

The fight is not over!!!! A physical wall is still a threat out here, regardless of what the news says. Don’t stop spreading the word!

The quiet change comes as DHS head steps down On Thursday, as Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was stepping down from her position, the lines on a proposed border wall map mysteriously changed to remove Big Bend National Park from a designation that would make steel walls more l...

Please help us and use your voice!! This has detrimental impacts to recreation and wildlife. The Big Bend that you know and love will be forever impacted. Santa Elena Canyon in BBNP, Hoodoos in BBRSP, everything in between, and much more. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1NKF7TVapR/?mibextid=wwXIfr

A border wall being built through the Big Bend region of West Texas is slated for completion in 2028, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
