This site was developed to share our trips, food, and tips with the world. We want people to see and know that you do not have to be rich to travel and eat well. We hope to inspire individuals and c

ouples to try new adventures and foods. Seek adventures you never thought of and live on the wild side while enjoying each other. LIVE A LITTLE MORE, EXPAND YOUR BOUNDARIES AND HAVE BLAST!

The idea for Meals and Miles came one summer evening in July, while riding in the car to Washington D.C. Monique always wanted to start a blog, but never knew what to blog about. We were laughing at some of the adjectives our friends use to describe us and our love for traveling. So we thought, "Why not show others how to have fun with their spouse? Why not blog about our trips? Why not show people the things we do?" We thought of names for our site the whole weekend. And during one of our random laugh sessions, as Leon was talking crazy, meals and miles came up and it stuck!

We have traveled to a total of 31 of 50 states, 11 Island, and 5 countries!

On this site we will post our trips, photos, and reviews for various destinations, restaurants, and accommodations. Please leave vacation reviews and comments in the designated areas. Now owner, Monique Tillman is an official Independent Travel Agent with InteleTravel. She can book anything from living accommodations, airline tickets, vacation packages, car rental, tours, excursion, etc.

This year… TAKE. ALL. OF. YOUR. PTO.

You deserve the vacation.
You deserve the rest.
You deserve to stop feeling guilty for taking time for yourself.

If your job recognizes federal holidays, schedule 1–2 PTO days around the holiday and suddenly you’ve turned a few days off into a full getaway without burning all your time.

And if your job doesn’t recognize federal holidays?

Stack your PTO next to your regular off days and maximize your break.

More rest.
More memories.
Less burnout.

Save this for your next vacation planning session.

Am I the only one? I am nervous that I will forget the most important document I need for international travel, MY PASSPORT. My mind is constantly like, did I pack my passport???

Have you all ever heard of a wardrobe capsule? I've heard of it but never tried it. I'm going to try it for my trip in hopes to not spend money on new clothes.

You need 5 shirts, 4 Bottoms, 3 Pairs of Shoes. Let's see how I do.

Would you try this method of packing for a trip?

Preparing for Ghana: EP 2

As I prepare for my departure to Ghana, I had to get vaccinations that are required for entry into the country. The only vaccination required is yellow fever.

Yellow fever is a viral hemorrhagic fever that is transmitted by infected mosquitoes.

I decided to get all of the vaccines recommended from the provider to make sure I am covered in all areas during this trip. Definitely wouldn't recommend getting six vaccinations back to back but hey, I survived.

When getting the yellow fever, call around for the best price as health insurance will not cover certain travel vaccines. Some places will charge upwards of $500+ for one vaccine. Luckily my health insurance and FSA covers travel vaccines.

Now that we are vaccinated let's move on to the fun stuff. See you in EP:3

Tried an Indian Fusion Restaurant last night in Union Market. Here are some of the dishes we ate.

I'll give it a solid 6.5/10. The service was great. The Cauliflower and Lamb Sliders were my favorite items.

I recently stayed at the Watermark Hotel in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This hotel is absolutely beautiful. I love how spacious the rooms are. I love the masculine designs with the rustic yet modern twist. The Gregory restaurant on site is really good. I ordered room service most nights and the staff was really friendly. The valet struggled with customer service but overall a good hotel.
