Something special at every turn!
Watkins Glen and Schuyler County are located on the southern shore of beautiful Seneca Lake in the heart of New York's incredible Finger Lakes Region. If you're planning a trip to the Finger Lakes and searching for lodging, dining, things to do, wineries, breweries, distilleries, and beyond - you've come to the right spot!
Spring is a wonderful time to visit! We expect that the Watkins Glen State Park's Gorge Trail will open in mid-May and in the meantime, the Rim Trail (which is dog-friendly) offers a neat perspective, skirting the top edge of the gorge. Check out Opening Weekend (April 14 and 15) at Watkins Glen International, where you can drive your car on the famed road course! Get outside and explore by hiking, biking, or horseback riding, and visiting the many waterfalls in the area, which always look extra-beautiful during springtime. If you're wondering what events are up next, you should mark your calendar for the Culinary World of Beer at craft breweries around Seneca Lake (April 7 and 8), Spring Wine & Cheese Weekend on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail (April 20-22), and the Seneca Lake Wine & Food Festival at Clute Park on May 19 - and those are just a few!
In addition to the all of the above, our area boasts many acclaimed attractions including Seneca Lake and her many surrounding waterways, the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, Sugar Hill State Forest, the Finger Lakes National Forest; the Farm Sanctuary; the International Motor Racing Research Center, museums, galleries, and theaters, and so much more. We are also less than 30 minutes from other top destinations including the Keuka Lake, Cayuga Lake, and towns such as Corning, Elmira, and Ithaca; and within an hour's drive of Geneva, Canandaigua, and Seneca Falls - we are your perfect "home base" while vacationing in the region! Watkins Glen and Schuyler County on beautiful Seneca Lake is your perfect trip for your family vacation, girl's getaway, couple's retreat, or wedding. A new adventure awaits at every turn, and some of your best days are yet to come…
