A one-of-a-kind log cabin in Weston, Missouri. 🌲 Hand-hewn logs, timeless interiors & cabin life.

It’s been a little quiet around here lately! 🤎 Between our busy work schedules and everyday life, we haven’t had as much time to share cabin updates as we’d like.

But behind the scenes, we’ve been slowly adding furniture and making this little cabin feel more and more like home.

One of our favorite additions so far is this rustic king-size bed made with beautiful aspen logs. It fits the cabin perfectly and makes the space feel so warm and cozy!

We may not be moving as quickly as we’d like, but we’re enjoying the process of putting it all together, one piece at a time. There’s something special about watching a place you’ve dreamed about slowly come to life.

More little updates to come as we continue making this cabin our own! What’s one dream you’re patiently bringing to life, one step at a time?

Another cabin detail finished. 🛶

We turned this old wooden canoe into an art piece for the gable and used old farm pulleys and rope to hoist it into place. We love finding ways to give old pieces a new purpose in the cabin.

She looks pretty good up there… but based on her current condition, I don’t recommend putting her in the Missouri River. 😂

We’ve been busy these past few weeks getting appliances installed and ordering furniture. The kitchen is coming together, and I’m loving how the vintage stove looks with the green cabinetry and log walls.

One more room is starting to come to life.

This bathroom has been years in the making, and seeing all of the natural elements come together is incredibly rewarding.

✔️ Custom live-edge walnut vanity handcrafted by
✔️ Hand-painted vessel bowls
✔️ Copper soaking tub
✔️ Steam shower with a self-drying system
✔️ Natural branch support
✔️ Pebble stone floor
✔️ Rustic wall-mounted faucets

Every piece was chosen to feel like it belonged in the cabin—not just placed in it.

It’s amazing how a simple sketch can become something you can finally stand back and admire.

What’s your favorite detail—the live-edge vanity, the copper soaking tub, the steam shower, or the hand-painted bowls?

Most people will only see the finished staircase.

They won’t see the hundreds of hours behind it.
The trial and error.
The sawdust.
The problem-solving.
Or the countless conversations from our “thinking chairs.”

Those two old camping chairs became headquarters for this build. We’d sit, stare at the staircase, talk through ideas, then get back to work.

Today we finally stepped back and realized…

It’s done.

The spiral staircase is complete, with hand-shaped treads wrapped around a massive log and Mountain Laurel branches woven into every railing.

Worth every minute. 🌲

Sneak Peek… 👀

The loft railings are finally coming together, and they’re becoming one of my favorite features in the cabin.

We wanted something that felt like it belonged in the woods—not something you could buy off the shelf. The combination of white oak and natural branches is exactly what we were hoping for.

Question for you…
🌿 Would you choose:
• Natural branch railings like these?
• Cable railing?
• Traditional wood spindles?
• Wrought iron?

I’d love to hear what you’d put in your dream cabin!

🏡 Follow along as we continue bringing this dream cabin to life.

This week we started laminating ¼-inch Missouri white oak strips to create the curved handrails for the spiral staircase and loft.

We’re pretty sure we borrowed every clamp in town. 😂

Huge thanks to our friend Cliff with Weston Unity Craft Workshops, his awesome high school students, and my buddy Rob at Bourbon Lights for jumping in and helping make this happen. It truly takes a village!

16 steps. 10 feet high. Last step is in. Rough-in complete. 🪵🌀

A lot of “come on Betsy…” and nothing better than having a close friend like working right beside you to get it done.
