🌺 HURRICANE LOWELL UPDATE: KAUAI 🌺

As you have probably seen, Kauai experienced the greatest impacts from Hurricane Lowell and the island is now in recovery mode.

Kauai experienced widespread power outages, downed trees and utility lines, flooding, debris, road closures and damage from wind and coastal surge. Approximately 90% of Kauai is still without power.

🚗 As crews work on clearing roads, you should continue limiting unnecessary travel and check road conditions before heading anywhere.

✈️ Lihue Airport has reopened, but travelers should continue checking directly with their airline for flight status and allow extra time when traveling to the airport.

🏨 RECOMMENDATION FOR CLIENTS ARRIVING WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK

Although flights are operating in Kauai and some resorts are accepting guests, I highly recommend that you postpone or switch your vacation to visit another Island. With widespread power outages, ongoing utility repairs, road cleanup, closures and limited access, your vacation may not be what you anticipated at this time.

For clients traveling a week or so past today, don't panic and don't automatically cancel. Give Kauai time to recover and continue watching the situation or consider visiting one of the other Islands that have not been affected as hard as Kauai.
