🇻🇳🇷🇺 VIETNAM – RUSSIA: EXPANDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR BILATERAL TOURISM COOPERATION
On October 30, 2026, in Hanoi, the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism held a meeting with a delegation from the Russian Federal Center for Strategic Research to discuss opportunities and solutions for strengthening tourism cooperation and two-way visitor exchanges between the two countries.
According to statistics, the number of Russian visitors to Vietnam increased by 160% during the first nine months of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025. Notably, Vietnamese citizens are now eligible for visa-free entry into Russia for stays of up to 30 days, from October 15, 2026, to October 15, 2027. Vietnam had previously introduced unilateral visa exemptions for Russian citizens.
Both countries are also working to restore and expand air routes, increase tourism promotion, strengthen business connections, develop diverse tourism products and improve human resources. The Russian side also introduced the “Discover Russia 2.0” project, aimed at promoting Russia as an international tourism destination and attracting more international visitors.
These positive developments present significant opportunities for Vietnamese travel companies to develop outbound tours for Vietnamese travelers to Russia, while also expanding inbound tourism by welcoming more Russian visitors to Vietnam.
In this context, travel companies such as F5 Vietnam Travel can play an important role as a bridge between the two markets by connecting Russian partners, developing suitable travel programs, organizing two-way tour groups and introducing a wider range of leisure, cultural, discovery and MICE tourism products.
Looking ahead, in December 2026, a delegation from Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is expected to visit Russia to attend bilateral cooperation meetings and a specialized MICE trade fair. Notably, the Meet Global MICE Congress is scheduled to take place on December 16–17, 2026, in Moscow, providing opportunities for international tourism businesses to meet, establish partnerships and explore new business opportunities.
This is an opportune time for travel companies to proactively build international partnerships, diversify their tourism products and expand their presence in the Vietnam–Russia tourism market throughout 2026–2027.
