Ninh Binh 2 Days 1 Night Travel Guide | From Hanoi to Hidden Paradise 🇻🇳

If you're looking for a short escape from Hanoi, Ninh Binh is the perfect destination. Just 2 hours away, it offers a stunning mix of mountains, rivers, and ancient history.

Here’s my full experience exploring Ninh Binh in 2 days and 1 night 👇

🚗 Day 1: Hanoi → Bai Dinh → Tuyet Tinh Coc → Hoa Lu

We left Hanoi at 5:30 AM and arrived in Ninh Binh around 8:00 AM.

📍 Bai Dinh Pagoda

After checking into our homestay, we headed straight to Bai Dinh at 8:30 AM.

Ticket: ~100,000 VND/person (electric car + pagoda combo – highly recommended)
The complex is huge, so wearing comfortable shoes is a must
The view from the top is absolutely breathtaking

💡 Tip: Bring water because you’ll walk a lot!

📍 Tuyet Tinh Coc (Am Tien Cave)

We visited in the afternoon (around 2–3 PM).

Entrance fee: 50,000 VND/person
Surrounded by mountains and a peaceful lake, this place feels like a hidden paradise
Perfect for photos, especially for couples

🚲 We rented bicycles (50,000 VND/hour) to explore the area.

📍 Hoa Lu Ancient Capital

Just a short walk from Tuyet Tinh Coc.

Hoa Lu - Trang An - Mua Cave 1-Day Tour Review | Ninh Bình Adventure from Hanoi
GETTING AROUND:
• Flew from SG to HN first, then headed to Ninh Binh (NB).
• Hanoi to Ninh Binh: Early 6AM train (76k/person; student card gets 10% off!), ~2hrs ride to NB station.
• Ninh Binh station to Tràng An: 4-seater taxi (100k).
• Trang An to Hang Múa: 4-seater taxi (100k).
• Mua Cave back to Ha Noi: Super-friendly 7-seater taxi (1M/4 people)—picked us up right at the site, dropped us at our Ha Noi apartment, even lent us umbrellas for Ninh Binh exploring!
Trang An (3hr boat cruise):
Ticket: 300.000VND/person.
• Boats need 4 people—wait or buy extra tickets if short!
• Staff guides route picks: 3 options; we did Tour 2 out, Tour 3 back for epic cave vibes.
• Boat lady was a gem—chatty intros to spots, stopped anytime for pics, even lent leaf hats! Rate her service highly post-cruise.
• Post-tour, lunched opposite: Bún, phở, rice from 40k/plate. Quick fuel-up (not gourmet—tourist spot, slim pickings).
• Waited out the sun before next leg.
Mua Cave (2hrs climb + snaps):
Ticket: 150.000VND/person.
• Entry rentals: Flowy dresses & hats for Insta magic!
• ~500 steep steps to the tower—tough ascent, but summit views? Pure bliss! Rest stops en route for pics. Easy paths mostly, but tower climb's risky (just a chain to grip—watch your step!).
