Introducing Cape Town Photography Tours! x

This is a dream that’s been a few months in the offing, but we’re so excited to announce the first public instalment of a unique collaboration!

The wonderful photographer David Southwood and I have joined forces to offer a brand new service:

For just R300pp, you can attend a prestigious three-hour masterclass in local history and architectural photography next Saturday morning (20th June) from 10h00 to 13h00.

Spaces will be strictly limited to 15 spots, but we hope to make it a monthly outing and a cherished private booking!

By the end of our session you’ll know Cape Town as a muse and a magnificent subject like never before x

DM or reach out via 076 033 8164 or [email protected] to jump aboard!

“Our guide, Cameron, was outstanding. He has that rare ability to take a historic site and make it feel vivid and modern. The way he explained the Castle’s history gave it real colour and depth, blending major events with the kind of human detail that makes stories stay with you. It was engaging, thought-provoking, and very well delivered. Highly recommend”
- Mitchell B.

Honouring a Legacy of Courage and Sacrifice

A significant milestone in preserving South Africa’s heritage was marked with the installation of a National Heritage Site plaque at the SS Mendi Memorial on the University of Cape Town lower campus.

The memorial commemorates the 616 members of the South African Native Labour Corps who tragically lost their lives when the SS Mendi sank in the English Channel on 21 February 1917.

Organised by the SAHRA Maritime and Underwater Cultural Heritage Unit, the event brought together representatives from the University of Cape Town (UCT) and the Gunners Association Western Province (GAWP), reflecting a shared commitment to remembrance and honour.

The unveiling formally recognises the memorial’s national significance, ensuring that the story of the SS Mendi and its passengers remains an enduring part of South Africa’s collective memory. Through meaningful collaboration between heritage practitioners, academic institutions, and military organisations, the event underscores the importance of preserving places of remembrance for future generations.

The Studio City tour was a certified hit!

Should we do it again with variations every Last Saturday?

It’s up to you!

I was positively effervescent all Saturday and then I got somewhat less than 8 hours of sleep that evening and I’m grateful I made it all the way to the Green Point Lighthouse in one piece yesterday afternoon…

But what a time! As usual, what matters is not as much what you communicate but how free you make people feel to learn and listen x
