Today marks 4 years of being my own boss as a Travel Counsellor and I am still pinching myself that this is my life.

In four years I have:

Met the most inspiring people at Head Office and in our TC family
Built friendships and support networks that go far beyond “colleagues”
Spent my days talking about holidays, crafting dream itineraries and sharing in my clients’ happiest travel moments

I wake up every day so thankful that I get to say: “This is my job and this is my business.”

And honestly, my boss is fabulous. She lets me do just about anything I please and has never once said no to my leave applications… because she’s me.

Here’s to more freedom, more adventures and many more incredible journeys still to come.

Looking for a luxury safari that feels exclusive and a little off the beaten track?

I spent two nights at 18 on the Hill and was genuinely blown away. Each tented suite has its own patio and plunge pool overlooking the veld, an oversized bed wrapped in mosquito netting, and a stunning bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, double vanity and a bath with a view. Inside you have everything you would expect from a five-star lodge: comfy lounge area (with sleeper couch for kids), writing desk, minibar and all the little touches that make it feel special.

The main lodge is made for lingering: bar, lounge and a wide deck that looks over the reserve and an active waterhole. Evenings end with generous dinners on the deck, in the dining room or around the fire in the boma. And the game drives did not disappoint: from a “lifer” Pel’s Fishing Owl to lions on the hunt and so much in between.
