Day 4 of my South African safari adventure has been all about Lion Sands, and what a day it has been.
We left Narina Lodge at 06:30 for a morning of site inspections at Lion Sands Ivory Lodge, River Lodge and Tinga. Each offers a different style and atmosphere, from ultra-luxury contemporary suites to warm, characterful riverside lodges, but all with the same focus on exceptional game viewing and heartfelt hospitality.
A real highlight is the value in Southern Africa’s dry season, with fantastic discounted rates available on bookings made up to 60 days in advance. It is a brilliant opportunity to enjoy a truly premium safari experience at a more accessible price point.
We finished the day with a beautifully cooked-to-order dinner: the perfect end to a day filled with inspiration for your future trips.
If a Lion Sands safari is calling your name, contact me today and let’s start designing your own tailor-made South African adventure.

Day 3 of the TC Greater Kruger fam trip started bright and early with a sunrise game drive, where we were treated to sightings of a shy civet, elephants and a fair‑sized pride of lions.

Coffee was served at the top of the Mathekenyana viewpoint, with incredible panoramas over the bush.

We continued our drive back to and through Skukuza Rest Camp, stretched our legs with a stroll through the old station, and rounded it off with a scrumptious breakfast at Kruger Shalati. After some time to freshen up before check‑out, we transferred back to the airport where we were met by our guide Ben and tracker Tsakane from Lion Sands Narina Lodge.

A delicious lunch overlooking the Sabie River set the tone for the afternoon, followed by some downtime in our suites before heading out on an epic sunset game drive. The highlight was meeting Donga, the elderly leopard, who had just taken a dip in the river. We watched him for a while, along with the remains of an unfortunate hippo, before pausing for sundowners in the bush under a canopy of stars.

The day ended back at the lodge with a relaxed dinner filled with fantastic food, great company and plenty of laughter.

Keep following for tomorrow’s update.

Day 2 in Greater Kruger and it was WILD.

From a slow, misty start and coffee at Nkulu Picnic Spot to three shy male lions, elephants, bushbuck, baboons and hippo, the morning eased us in.

But the afternoon game drive flipped the script: hyena, civet, genet, porcupine flaunting its quills, rock dassies and klipspringer… then the big reveal. Our guide Sizwe “detoured to help another vehicle” and instead surprised us with a stunning female leopard, impala kill hoisted in a tree. Moments later, lions calling in the distance and then appearing right in front of us.

We ended the day with a soulful youth choir welcome and dinner beside the tracks at Kruger Shalati Train on the Bridge. So grateful to be here.
