ACCOMMODATION: BAKUBUNG BUSH LODGE
Bakubung Bush Lodge has air-conditioned rooms with bath, shower, direct dial telephone, colour TV (8 channels), electric shaving plug (100/220V), hair dryer and internet connectivity. The rooms have doors leading onto either a patio or balcony and have panoramic views of the Park and the Hippo Pool.
Amenities include free high-speed WiFi, game drives, bush walks, swimming pool, spa and gym.
The standard rooms have one king size bed / twin single beds, air conditioning, bathrooms with separate bath, shower and toilet, DSTV bouquet, direct dialling telephones, electric shaving plugs, coffee and tea making facilities, hairdryer, international multi plugs, electronic safe and minibar stocked on request.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Distance from Johannesburg to Pilanesberg National Park:
• The drive is about 2.5 hours.
• It is advisable to depart Johannesburg at 6:30am to arrive at the Park at about 9:00am. This will allow you time to make the most of your day in the Park.
Health and Medical concerns:
• Pilanesberg National Park is in a malaria free region.
• The lodges have medical services on call and the close proximity to Rustenburg, Pretoria and Johannesburg means that top-class medical facilities are not far when they are needed.
Climate and Weather conditions:
• Summer: October to March is when the area sees a significant amount of rainfall. Temperatures are expected to be between 26 °C and 30 °C.
• Winter: This is known to be the best time to visit the park. During the period around July to October, animals in the park are easier to spot and spend longer feeding. It is also mating season which is definitely worth seeing. Days are generally warm and clear.

The Big Five are one of Pilanesberg’s major draw cards. The quintet of big game is a must-see for serious safari goers and Pilanesberg National Park offers great opportunities to tick lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhinoceros off your list. The term “Big Five” originated in the times of big game hunting, when these species were considered the most dangerous and prestigious to hunt. Today tourists are still eager to track the animals down, but only shoot them with cameras.
