Sometimes treasures don't have to be pin sharp photos. They are the moments we seek and the joy they bring when they happen.

We searched for a Secretarybird for 4 days, crossed a dodgy river to get there, and were excited to explore remote routes ahead of torrential rains. One of my guests so badly wanted to see one of these extraordinary creatures. I was praying, manifesting, wishing, hoping, dreaming, meditating, and praying some more. To see a guest's delight at a dream find brings me so much joy.

Just when we least expected it, not one but two Secretarybirds came leaping out of the thickets and proceeded to put on a show of a very extravagant "bird ballet" :). They were quite far from our vehicle, but what a show it was.

5 smiley faces onboard and a very happy Safari Guide C.A later, hearts were full.

I actually don't believe it was anything to do with my "rituals' that resulted in such a find, but rather the pure hope in the heart of a delightful young soul that sought to revere such a creature that delighted the Creator of it.

Oh how I love such good memories. SA Adventure

You never know what you might find in a pile of elephant dung.

Black crakes are opportunistic omnivores living in freshwater wetlands. Their diverse diet consists of insects, larvae, worms, snails, fish, frogs, seeds, and aquatic plants. Additionally, they scavenge from carcasses and eat bird eggs, as well as remove parasites from wallowing animals.
