I’ve just spent time exploring the Isle of Skye, and while there are plenty of famous attractions, these four stops genuinely stood out.

📍 Portree Harbour - The colourful heart of the island. It’s the perfect place to wander, grab a coffee, practice skipping stones and soak up Skye’s relaxed atmosphere before hitting the road.

💦 Bride’s Veil Falls - A beautiful roadside waterfall that’s only a short walk from the car. Easy to visit, incredibly photogenic, and often overlooked by visitors rushing between the bigger attractions.

🏔️ Rigg Viewpoint – Just beyond the Old Man of Storr trailhead, this is one of the best views on the island. You get the dramatic coastline, the rugged mountains and that unmistakable Skye landscape… without committing to the full hike.

🥃 Talisker Distillery – Iconic for good reason. Whether you’re a whisky lover or simply want to experience one of Scotland’s most famous distilleries in an incredible setting, it’s absolutely worth the stop.

One thing this trip reinforced is that the best itineraries aren’t about squeezing in every attraction. They’re about knowing which stops are truly worth your time, and how to link them together into a day that flows beautifully.

That’s exactly what I help my clients do.

If Scotland is on your bucket list, I’d love to help you plan a trip that’s built around the places you’ll still be talking about years later.

There are places that make you pull over because you should…

…and then there are places like Sligachan Old Bridge, where you stop because you can’t drive past without stopping.

The ancient stone bridge. The crystal-clear river. The dramatic Cuillin Mountains rising in the background. It’s one of those rare spots that looks even better in real life.

We’d barely been on Skye an hour, and already knew this island was going to live up to every bit of the hype.

And the best part? This was only stop number one.

Follow along as we explore one of Scotland’s most spectacular road trips, one unforgettable stop at a time.

While Australia is pulling on coats and counting down until spring, this is after 9pm in Glencoe… and the sun still hadn’t set.

There is something magical about the Scottish Highlands in summer. The lochs glow, the mountains soften in the evening light, and somehow the day just keeps going. You have time for a full day of exploring and a sunset drive without ever feeling rushed.

It’s one of those travel experiences that photos can never quite capture - the silence, the scale and the feeling of having an entire landscape bathed in golden light long after dinner.

✨ If you’re dreaming of escaping winter, why not swap it for endless summer evenings instead?

If I can get you out of winter, I’d love to make that happen. Get in touch and let’s start planning your next adventure.
