Marine Discoveries (formally Reef Teach) is an environmental consultancy that focuses on research and education to help build reef resilience on the Great Barrer Reef 🪸 Our team has a long history of working on the reef and with their diverse knowledge, experience, and expertise, they are perfectly suited to the challenges that face us. Through our training programs we are proud to be teaching and inspiring the next generation of marine biologists, and conservationists as well as working in the consulting field with reef professionals on site stewardship programs.

Working Holiday Makers help make experiences like ours possible.

At Marine Discoveries, we have so many of our interns and local team rely on this visa class whilst in Cairns.

They are temporary visitors who work, travel and spend in communities across Australia before returning home.

Policy changes could mean fewer Working Holiday Makers coming to Australia, shorter stays or less ability to move to the regions where workers are needed. That could have major impacts for the Cairns local tourism industry.

We are asking the Australian Government to protect the number, length of stay and mobility of Working Holiday Makers, to consult the tourism industry and recognise that temporary visitors are different from permanent migration.
