Happy October!
The best safari camps for next year are already filling up, so this feels like a good moment for a little reminder of who I am and what I do.
I'm Lucie, and I plan tailor-made safaris across Southern and East Africa and the Indian Ocean islands, from gorilla trekking in Uganda and Rwanda to the migration in Tanzania and Kenya, Botswana's Okavango Delta, Victoria Falls, and a few days on a beach to finish. I've been travelling in Africa for over 28 years and planning safaris professionally for six, and three words sum up how I work:
INDEPENDENT – I'm not tied to any lodge, operator or brand. That means I'm free to choose whichever camp or area best suits you, your budget and the time of year, not whoever happens to pay the best commission.
EXPERT – I know because I go. These photos are all from my own trips: lions lounging on the track, a cheetah dozing in the shade, an elephant wandering past the lodge at lunch, and a gorilla who was much better at hiding than I was at photographing. I've slept in the beds, sat in the vehicles and checked the showers, so I can tell you honestly what a place is like and who it suits.
ETHICAL – This matters to me in two ways. First, my pricing: I charge a fair, transparent margin, with no inflated mark-ups and no padding on costs. Second, my partners: tourism can do a huge amount of good in Africa, but only if it's done properly. I choose camps and operators who put conservation, local communities and sustainable practices at the heart of what they do, so your trip helps protect the places and wildlife you've come to see.
And of course, your money is fully protected. I offer ATOL protection and I'm a member of the Travel Trust Association, so you get the security of a big company with the personal service of one person who plans everything herself and answers her own phone.
