One of the biggest misconceptions about travel is that there is a single "best" resort.

There isn't.

The best resort for one family could be completely wrong for another.

That's why I spend more time asking questions than recommending resorts.

The more I learn about what matters most to a family, the easier it is to find the right fit.

Our family recently booked our next vacation, and something interesting happened almost immediately.

We started talking about it.

Not the flights.

Not the room.

Not the logistics.

The memories we hope to make.

The beach walks.

The pool days.

The food we'll try.

The laughs we'll have.

Having something to look forward to is powerful.

Life gets busy.

Work gets stressful.

Schedules fill up.

Sometimes simply knowing you have an adventure ahead can brighten an ordinary day.

That's one of the reasons I love travel.

✈️ The 3 things I wish every family knew before booking an all-inclusive vacation.

After planning vacations for my own family and helping other families compare options, I've learned a few things.

1️⃣ The cheapest resort isn't always the best value.

Sometimes spending a little more can mean a better beach, better food, a shorter transfer, or more activities for the kids.

2️⃣ Airport transfer times matter more than most people realize.

A beautiful resort can feel a lot less appealing after a long day of travel and a two-hour bus ride.

3️⃣ There is no such thing as the "best" resort.

The right resort for a family with young children may be completely different from the right resort for a couple or a group of friends.

Every family has different priorities—and sometimes the best fit might be a completely different resort than the one you originally had in mind.

That's why I spend more time asking questions than recommending resorts.

The more I learn about what matters to a family, the easier it is to find the right fit.

✈️ One thing I've learned while helping families plan vacations... and while planning my own.

The best vacation isn't always the most expensive one.

Recently, our family booked our next Caribbean vacation, and the process reminded me of something important.

When choosing a resort, most people immediately start with price.

But the better question is:

"What will make this vacation successful for our family?"

For us, that meant:

🏖️ A great beach

🍔 Good snack options

🍽️ Quality food

🎭 Family-friendly entertainment

🏊 Relaxing pools

🚗 A reasonable transfer time

🛏️ A comfortable room

Every family has different priorities.

Some want water parks.

Some want luxury.

Some want nightlife.

Some just want a week to relax together.

🌎 One of the things I love most about travel has nothing to do with resorts, beaches, or pools.

It's the opportunity to experience different cultures, meet new people, and see the world from a different perspective.

Over the past week, our family has been reminded of that in an unexpected way.

⚽ First, I found myself reflecting on memories from Jamaica during the World Cup.

Then we had the opportunity to watch Team Panama train right here in New Tecumseth.

Two very different experiences, but both reminders of how travel and culture have a way of bringing people together.

The more I travel, the more I realize that some of the best memories aren't always the ones you plan.

They're the conversations, the people you meet, the traditions you experience, and the moments that surprise you.

That's one of the reasons I enjoy helping families plan vacations.

🌴 Every destination has its own personality.

Some people Dream of spending their days on the beach.

🤫 Others are looking for a relaxing escape that feels almost Secret.

✨ Some want a getaway that simply takes their Breath away.

💫 And sometimes the experiences we remember most leave a lasting Impression.

⚽ Last Thursday, our family had the opportunity to attend Team Panama's public training session right here in Alliston.

What an incredible experience.

The training session was limited to just 200 members of the community, and we were fortunate enough to be among those who received tickets.

To be honest, the heat got the better of us and we ended up leaving a little early. 😅

But seeing the players train, watching the goalkeepers in action, and sharing the experience together as a family was something we'll remember for a long time.

It's pretty amazing to think that athletes from around the world are spending time in our community as they prepare for one of the biggest sporting events on the planet.

As someone who loves travel, one of my favorite things is experiencing different cultures and seeing how connected our world really is.

This week, we didn't even have to leave New Tecumseth for that experience.

Moments like this remind me why travel is so important. It allows us to experience different cultures, create lasting memories, and sometimes even leave a lasting Impression.

Good luck to Team Panama and all of the nations competing in this year's World Cup! ⚽🌎

⚽🌴 With the FIFA World Cup back this summer, I've found myself thinking about Jamaica in 2022.

It's funny how certain events instantly take you back to a specific place and time.

While Canada was taking on Croatia, Tammy, Caleb, and I were enjoying our first family Caribbean vacation. Photos from that very day-November 27 2022

At that point, Caleb couldn't have cared less about soccer. 😄

He was far more interested in the beach, the pool, and spending every possible minute in the ocean.

Like many Canadians, I was trying to keep up with the match whenever I could.

Every once in a while, I'd check the score on my phone between beach walks and swims.

I still remember seeing Canada up 1-0 and thinking maybe this was going to be our moment.

Unfortunately, Croatia had other plans.

But what I remember most isn't the score.

It's standing on a beach in Jamaica with my family.

Years later, whenever I think about that World Cup, I don't just remember the match.

I remember the sunshine, the ocean, and the memories we made together.

It's funny how travel and life's biggest moments become connected forever.

🌧️ Looking outside at the rain today in Alliston got me thinking...

Our family is finally starting to plan our next vacation.

Like many families, we've had a lot on our minds lately, and travel wasn't always at the top of the list.

Now that we're starting to look at our options, one thing has become very clear:

The best room categories, resort availability, and early booking promotions don't last forever.

That's one of the reasons we're planning now instead of waiting until the fall.

For our family, finding the right beach, great food, family-friendly entertainment, and a relaxed atmosphere is important. The earlier we start looking, the more options we have.

If you're thinking about a Caribbean getaway this fall, winter, or even March Break, now is a great time to start exploring your options.

I'm currently helping families compare resorts, destinations, and travel dates while many of the best early booking offers are still available.

You don't have to book tomorrow.

But waiting too long can mean fewer choices and missing out on some great early booking offers.

While nobody was quite ready to commit publicly 😄, it got me thinking about what my own family looks for when we travel.

For us, the perfect vacation includes:

🏊Quiet pools where we can relax without feeling crowded
🍽️Amazing food with plenty of options for everyone
🍔Good snack spots for those mid-afternoon cravings
🎭Kid-friendly entertainment that keeps everyone smiling
🛏️A comfortable room to recharge after a day in the sun
☀️An overall relaxed, easy-going atmosphere
