If you’ve been seeing the media coverage today and feeling a bit uneasy about Mexico travel β€” you’re not alone.

With recent events happening in Puerto Vallarta, it’s completely normal to think,
β€œWait… I’m heading to Mexico. Should I be worried?”

Let’s take a breath and zoom out.

Mexico is a very large country. What happens in one region does not automatically impact the entire country.

For example β€” Puerto Vallarta and Cancun are nowhere near each other.

β€’ Roughly 2,300–2,500 km apart
β€’ About a 3.5–4.5 hour flight
β€’ 30+ hours driving

Puerto Vallarta is on the Pacific Coast.
Cancun and the Riviera Maya are on the Caribbean Coast.

Think Vancouver vs. Toronto. Same country. Completely different regions.

Now, just as a heads up β€” there have also been reports of unrest in parts of Playa del Carmen and Cozumel. It’s important to acknowledge that. At the same time, it doesn’t mean the entire Riviera Maya region has shut down or that tourism has stopped.

As of right now, there are no broad government travel advisories in place for Cancun or the Riviera Maya as a whole. Flights are operating. Resorts are open. Tourism infrastructure continues running.

The news is designed to grab attention.
My job is to give you context.

So here’s how I approach situations like this:

We don’t panic.
We don’t ignore.
We stay informed.
We make decisions based on facts β€” not fear.

Air Canada , WestJet, sunwing, and Transat are suspending all flights to Cuba.
Refunds are being automatically issued by some airlines.
If you require assistants please call your travel advisor you booked with. If you booked yourself online. The airline will contact you.

This is a very frustrating time for everyone. Looking forward to a vacation and then it being cancelled sucks.
Please be kind, everyone is working hard to try and get your funds or vouchers to you. The people on the front lines are taking a lot of angry calls, when this is 100% out of their control.
