There are few things as calming as watching a caribou swim across the river in front of your canoe.

Unrushed, unbothered, on its own time.

We lift our paddles to give it space and fully take in the moment.

Jackpine Guide Rae Panayi on growing up on the shores of Great Slave Lake:

"Sharing the beauty of where I grew up with guests from all over the world never gets old. The North Arm, in particular, has endless islands with camping opportunities on almost all of them. Exploring these intricate channels between the islands and popping out into the open water makes every trip remarkably different" — Rae, 2026

Congratulations to all the Ayalik girls' trip participants on completing their 2-week Great Slave Lake canoe trip!

Since 2020, Jackpine has partnered with the Ayalik Fund, which sends Inuit youth from across Nunavut on wilderness expeditions to build confidence and self-esteem. This year's group spent two weeks paddling through the many islands on the North Arm of Great Slave Lake.

Well done to everyone who took part, and thank you to the Ayalik Fund for another year of this fantastic partnership. If you're interested in supporting future trips, donations to the Ayalik Fund go directly toward sending more youth out on the land.

Northern Partnership Highlight: Fish on the Bay

Serving fish from the Northwest Territories while on northern expeditions matters to us.

Stephanie and her team at Fish on the Bay harvest lake trout directly from Great Slave Lake, and partnering with them means our guests are eating locally caught fish on our expeditions across the territory. These fillets were delicately cooked over the fire with freshly foraged early-season fireweed.

We're proud to work with Stephanie and her team each season.
