How to CHEAPLY transport a 10m Catamaran.

My brother Toby and his wife Tara live on a 10m Kerr Catamaran. It's been out of the water for a few months getting some upgrades and general maintenance done but now it's time to splash her again. Tobyy is very much into saving money where he can so he figured the best way to get the boat back in the water was to do it all DIY style. Using our older brothers trucks and sons and a rented crane he made a pretty big project seem easy. About three hours was all that was needed to get the boat from where it had sat on blocks, 20km through suburban streets, back into the water, mast, boom and rigging back on and back out on its anchor.
Job well done bro!
Enjoy

Dukono volcano recently erupted in violent fashion, killing two and injuring many.
My brother and I climbed this active volcano in Halmahera, Indonesia a few years ago, and it was one of my most memorable adventures.
My feelings go out to those affected.

Here are the two videos I made about our experience on the mountain.

New Kids On The Dock and their huge new Cat.
https://youtu.be/3X9y_jZYWK8
This week I travel to the Gold Coast and meet up with good friends Josh & Phoebe. Many of you will know them from their YT channel, New Kids On The Dock. They are tackling one heck of a project as they recently purchased a 58ft Cat thats sat unfinished for the last 8 years. I sat them down and hit them with a few questions.
Enjoy

Cyclone Narelle, what actually happened?
https://youtu.be/JiiquiuSWuA
Cyclone Narelle hit the Northern Territory coast just south of Gove, where we were taking shelter deep up in the mangroves. Our spot turned out to be an excellent choice and we ended up enjoying a pretty good nights sleep and at no time felt in danger. The day after we returned to the main harbour. This video shows some of the damage caused by the storm.
Enjoy

Cyclone Narelle, live update from our sailboat.

Cyclone Narelle hit the North Queensland coast hard then came across into the Gulf of Capenteria and gathered strength again as it barrelled along, straight for us here in Gove. Wer'd been watching its progress for a few days and decided that we'd seek a safer spot to ride this monster system out. The day before it arrived we motored a few miles to a mangrove creek that I'd found using satellite images. We anchored outside and I scoped the entrance in the dinghy then motored slowly up the creek and round a few corners until we found the perfect spot. We dropped the anchor and then tied a spiderweb of ropes to strong mangroves trees.
Here's a short video of how we experienced the storm.
Enjoy

Cyclone Narelle incoming
We are currently in Gove/Nhulenbuy and there is a monster system moving right towards us. Narelle is a fast moving beast and growing in size and strength as she starts crossing the Gulf of Capenteria. She’s due to make landfall 60nm south of us here at about 8pm tomorrow Saturday.

Today we moved Trade Runner up into a mangrove creek. I spent the morning attaching lines all around the boat to various bigger trees on the bank.

Fingers crossed, I feel we’ve done everything we can do and now we just wait.

We’ll let you know Sunday how things went.

Roadtrippin Australia, Darwin → Brisbane.Part 2

Darwin to Brisbane by road is roughly 3500km. We have 9 days to complete the trip in our Toyota Hilux, taking as many little detours as we can find along the way. There is a heat wave following us and temps during the days never dip below 43deg, with nights dropping into the low 30's. We see many cool animals along the way and Eli is so happy to be experiencing all this new stuff.
Join us for the 2nd leg of this cool trip
Enjoy.
