This is what a regatta Sunday looks like in San Sebastian— Donostiako Estropadak — Bandera de la Co**ha. Traineras cutting across La Co**ha, flags everywhere, and a kind of noise that only happens a few Sundays a year.

Summer, summed up: new faces every week, and 97 meals donated 🫶🏽

Every seat on a T**a tour isn't just a night out. It's a small, direct vote for the kind of tourism we actually believe in — the regenerative kind, where visiting a place means leaving something behind, not just taking a few photos and a full stomach.

This month, someone told us Jake was "the highlight of a stay in this beautiful city." Someone else said their evening with Endika in Bilbao "was a real highlight," tailored around what they hadn't tried yet, "keeping every stop a nice surprise." And a third guest called it exactly what they look for at the start of a trip: a way to find "special little lesser known gems, as well as traditional well known spots."

✨️That's the part that means the most to us - the part where people leave feeling like they actually understood this place a little better.

Did you know this giant puppy is covered in real flowers?🌸🏵🌺🌼

Puppy, the iconic sculpture outside the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, is made up of tens of thousands of seasonal flowers that are changed twice a year.

Created by artist Jeff Koons, he's been welcoming visitors since 1997 and has become one of the city's most loved landmarks.

The Guggenheim Bilbao completely transformed the city.When it opened in 1997, Bilbao was still an industrial city. Today, it's considered one of the world's greatest examples of how art and architecture can reshape a destination—a phenomenon so famous it even has a name: the "Bilbao Effect."

Marijaia ✨️The unmistakable symbol of Bilbao's festivities. With her arms raised in celebration, Marijaia has welcomed the city to Aste Nagusia since 1978. She appears on the balcony of the Arriaga Theatre during the opening "txupinazo" and returns on the final night for her famous farewell as she's carried down the river before being ceremonially burned—a tradition that marks the end of the festival.

Free concerts across the city ✨️ Free performances across multiple stages, with the main venues at Abandoibarra and Parque Europa, alongside music, theatre and cultural events throughout Bilbao.

Fireworks every night ✨️ Find a spot along the Nervión River or near the Arenal and enjoy the show with thousands of locals.

Experience the Txosnas (Konpartsak) ✨️If you want to celebrate like a local, head to the txosnas—the temporary bars run by local community groups. They're the heart of the festival, serving food, drinks, live music and an atmosphere you won't find any other time of the year.

KBZON TXIKI
Born from the team behind La Cuchara de San Telmo, KBZON Txiki has quietly become one of our favourite places for seasonal Basque cooking. With one location in Gros and two in the Old Town, expect produce-led pintxos, bold flavours, and the kind of dishes you'll still be thinking about days later.

BERTAKOTEKA
Proudly Basque in every sense. Created by the people behind Ama Tolosa, this is where tradition meets outstanding ingredients. Don't leave without trying the hake with pork demi-glace, and whatever you do, save room for the cheesecake.

KONBINI109
A little different, and that's exactly why we love it. Creative cocktails, an Asian-inspired kitchen, and a menu where everything we've tried we'd order again. It's the kind of place where we will take turns taking our friends, hoping it'll kind of stay secret for a while.

If there's one week when the city truly comes alive, it's Semana Grande (Aste Nagusia).

Every year, Donostia celebrates its biggest summer festival with eight days of concerts, fireworks, traditional Basque sports, street performances, family activities, food, and celebrations across the entire city.

The International Fireworks Competition: Every night, a different pyrotechnic company lights up La Co**ha Bay.

Sagüés Concerts: Free live music by the sea every evening

Traditional Basque Culture: Expect herri kirolak (Basque rural sports), giants and big-head parades, folk music, street entertainment, and activities that bring local traditions to life throughout the week.
