A great days walking in the lower levels of the Cheviot Hills today with the NA Tuesday Walkers.
A 10.5 mile walk starting from Alnham, taking in Hart Law, Little Dod, Ewartly Shank and the very poignant “Shepherds Cairn” which is in memory of two young shepherds who died in the snow storm on 17 Nov 1962, just a short distance from home.
We had 12 souls on the walk today, but unfortunately no hounds, I can’t remember when we had none of our four legged friends with us 🐶🐶
A beautiful, but windy day with stunning autumnal colours and as always a great group of walkers.
Next week we are heading deeper into the Cheviots, taking on the magnificent Hedgehope.

Today is a very sad day for all of us at Northern Adventures and more importantly for our very close knit Tuesday Walkers.

We have sadly lost “ Willow” one of our very charismatic 4 legged friends.
She was a lovely, active, friendly and very sociable little Jack Russell, with a very big personality, who became one of the regular members of the Tuesday walkers.

Thoughts go out to Sarah & James at this very sad time. 💔😘❤️

Great walk today with our NA Tuesday walkers, a 9.5 mile walk along the beautiful Allenbanks & Staward Gorge with all its autumnal colours.
Weather was much better than forecast, but muddy underfoot but dry.
19 souls and 2 hounds on this one.

We’ve been on The Holy Island of Lindisfarne today, guiding 60 young ladies and teachers safely over the causeway as part of their Pilgrimage to the island and history of St Aidan, whom their school house is named after.

Weather wasn’t the best, however spirits were high and everyone had a great time.

Up on the moors around Weardale with a group of 30 Dutch students on a hilly 20 mile day ride.
They come every year and are always a pleasure to work with.

Today’s Northern Adventures Tuesday Walk was back up into the hills of The Cheviots, to do an 8 mile Shillhope Loop.
14 souls and 3 hounds.
Unfortunately, I was otherwise engaged so couldn’t get on this one, but by the sound of it everyone had a great day, with great weather and a pint at the end!!
Not jealous 🤣🤨😘🍺

Kathleen & Walter, from Hawaii, at the end of their “double” walk with Northern Adventures.
First off, they walked the beautiful St Cuthberts Way, from Melrose to Holy Island, had two nights on Holy Island, before then walking the length of St Oswalds Way down to Heavenfield Cross on Hadrian’s Wall.
They are no “spring chickens” and I’m sure many of us can only aspire to their tremendous effort.
We wish you both a very happy 58th wedding anniversary tonight in Newcastle.

Due to an extremely busy summer season, it’s been a while since we had a “proper walk” with our Northern Adventures Tuesday Walkers.
However today we pulled together a group of 21 souls and 4 hounds, for a loop walk from Chester’s Roman Fort on Hadrian’s Wall, along the North Tyne and back along The Wall, passing Heavenfield Cross on the way.
Great day, great walk, great craic and always great company.

A great evening “sunset” walk on Holy Island tonight, raising money for HospiceCare North Northumberland
24 people signed up for this walk on an absolutely glorious evening.
We finished on the beach looking for “Cuddy Beads” (in near darkness!)

I think everyone enjoyed it.

Our NA Tuesday walk was somewhat different today, more of a cultural walk than a big hill walk.
30 souls and 4 hounds walked a
5 miler, taking in Penshaw Monument, followed by a visit to the Angel of the North.
A cracking day and thoroughly enjoyable. Coffee and cake at thenewploughteatrailer helped
