We've just had a lovely few days at Waterside Retreat – catching up on a few little jobs and spending time with some new arrivals on the water!

The coots who nested right in front of the lodge now have four gorgeous chicks, the grebe is proudly paddling around with one chick of her own, and Mrs Swan is still patiently sitting on her nest. Surely it won’t be long now – Mr Swan keeps popping over to check if there’s any movement, but so far, no sign! And the frogs!!! I know where Paul McCartney got his inspiration for the “Frog Chorus” 😊

🌿 Why We Love Waterside Retreat… And Think You Will Too! 🌅🐾
As soon as we drive through the gates, it feels like an invisible shield goes up — the outside world melts away. The windows go down, the radio goes off, and we take it all in… peaceful lakes, perfectly kept grounds, and that calming sense of space and serenity. Even though the speed limit is 10mph, we cruise at 5 — who’d want to rush past those views?
On the way to Waterside Retreat, we pass Pasco’s, the onsite Italian restaurant — perfect for breakfast, dinner, or a cheeky takeaway. The welcome is always warm, and the food always hits the spot!
The front of the lodge is neat and practical… but step inside and wow — those lake views! Two big patio doors open straight out to water, and both bedrooms have the same incredible view. Waking up here feels like a dream.
Then it’s time to say hello to the lake’s regulars — the ducks, the swans, maybe even some new chicks! Our dogs love the freedom of the decking area, and we love relaxing in the hot tub watching the sunset, stars, or — if you’re lucky — even the Northern Lights 🌌

We've just had a stunning few days at Waterside Retreat Heron Lakes, as always the site looks stunning and despite the Easter holidays having just started, it's still peaceful and tranquil.
