As discussion continues about the number of car parking spaces available in the town of I thought people might be interested to know more about the huge number of stables needed in the past to accommodate the needed for every day tasks.

The old photographs in this post have been taken ,with permission ,from a marvelous book by Donald Morten, whose parents came to live in the creamery on Green Lane in 1911.There were 5 milk ponies who delivered milk around Buxton every day. I am currently working on a new website to reflect a number of changes I am making to Discover Buxton, but more of that at a later date. I'm wondering if anyone has a decent high res photo of either Ashford in the water or Chrome Hill that I could feature, with due credit of course, on the site. My photos just look dreadful ! Hope someone out there can help
