Fancy stepping back in time? 👀

Just a short stroll from the city centre, St Augustine’s Abbey is a magnificent place to spend a summer's day. Wander through the remains of the former monastery, explore hidden corners and learn about this UNESCO World Heritage Site in the visitor centre. There are even special events on throughout the year, so check in with to find out what's on!

Stay cool this week! We have another heatwave in the next few days so remember to enjoy the summer with plenty of sunscreen and water, and find a few cool spots during your day out.

⛪ History is, literally, COOL: step inside Canterbury Cathedral, St Martin's Church (the oldest church in England still in use) and Canterbury Roman Museum, as the thick stone walls and underground corridors are nice and cool!

🌳 Find a shady spot in the beautiful Westgate Gardens beside the River Stour, or relax in the green spaces of Dane John Gardens - perfect for a picnic

🚣 Enjoy a lazy trip on the river with Canterbury Punting Company or Westgate Punts, or head just outside the city to enjoy paddling adventures with Canoe Wild in Fordwich.

🍦 Cool down with an ice cream! There are a few parlours offering delicious treats such as Amorino, Creams, Hotel Chocolate, or the ice cream stall at Fish Bros

🍽️ Dine al fresco at any of the city's beautiful restaurants, or venture up to the noewly opened for views of the city

🌊 Fancy a refreshing dip in the sea? Head to the colourful harbour of Whitstable or make your way to Herne Bay to enjoy the historic pier.
