Still catching up on posting about last week’s adventures. One of the many highlights was the trip on board the Pabbay Lass with Rachael and Morag of Leverburgh Sea Safari . Travelling just with the basics- sketchbook and a couple of drawing tools - the movement forces you to capture the essence.

The trip was fantastic and will feature again in next year’s Sense of Place experience (which is sold out already).

Quick catch up on the last couple of days….

Calanais Standing Stones, Gearrannan Blackhouse Village, Luskentyre Beach and Huisinis. So many highlights and so much inspiration. Wonderful guests. And then there’s Nicky Sanderson ‘s expert artist guidance. The days are flying past far too quickly when you’re having fun 🤩.

Wonderful day exploring! Butt of Lewis at the very north end of the island and stunning Port of Ness….rock magic and moody skies. So much inspiration everywhere.

Another highlight was our visit to printmaking artist Gill Thompson at Gill Thompson . Thank you for making us feel so welcome and for introducing us to the process of making collagraph prints🙏🏻

Fabulous first Sense of Place painting workshop day with the amazing Nicky Sanderson ! Our studio for the day was at Lews Castle . Equipped with plenty of tools, new techniques and ideas we’ll start exploring the island tomorrow 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿☀️.

While waiting for our painting guests to arrive I used the opportunity to take a tour at the Harris Tweed Story Room….so interesting! You never know….there might be a Wild at Art Lewis & Harris textile experience evolving one day 😉🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

What an amazing trip! Sacred Geometry & the Scottish Landscape with Melissa Potter and Reni Gower. Nine days full of creativity, inspiration, connection, laughter, play, nature, history, music, great food and so much fun. I feel incredibly fortunate and grateful that spending all this time in the company of wonderful creative women from all over the world (guys are welcome too, of course 😉) is my actual job!
The Inveraray Inn was the perfect venue - it wasn’t unusual to find one or two of the guests (or tutors) in the studio at midnight doing art 😉.
