We've just relaunched the Trewena website, and the part we're most proud of isn't the booking system (though that's much better too). It's the Cornwall guide.
It started as answers to the questions guests kept asking us. Where's the best beach that isn't rammed? What's the Lizard road trip actually like? Where should we eat in Falmouth without spending a fortune? We wrote it all down.

Happy Easter from Trewena 🐣

The garden is just starting to come back to life; buds appearing, the camellia doing its thing, and the granite bench in the sitting out area quietly waiting for someone to sit with a coffee and do absolutely nothing for a while.

This is what the grounds look like on an April morning. Not bad.

Gool Peryn Lowen, or Happy St Piran’s Day from Cornwall! ⚒️🖤

Today (5th March) is Cornwall’s national day, when we celebrate St Piran, the county’s patron saint and the man credited with discovering tin smelting. Tin mining helped shape Cornwall’s history and communities for centuries, so he’s a pretty big deal down here.

The famous black and white Cornish flag comes from the legend of St Piran seeing black tin rising out of white molten metal.

You’ll see the flag flying proudly across Cornwall today, with parades, pasties and a lot of Cornish pride in the air.

A fresh lick of paint here and there… and she’s looking rather pleased with herself.

We popped over to National Trust Trelissick this week for a bit of Christmas cheer… and it didn’t disappoint ✨

Their Christmas tree this year is decorated in celebration of The Mousehole Cat 🐟

If you know the story, you’ll remember Mowzer – the brave little cat who sailed out with old Tom to save Mousehole from starvation. The tree is dotted with little Cornish houses and shoals of fish, a lovely nod to one of Cornwall’s most loved tales.

Add twinkly lights, winter greenery and that calm Trelissick feeling and it’s a cracking way to get into the festive spirit while you’re down here.

The shortest day is here — happy Winter Solstice from our little patch of Cornwall!

It might be the depth of winter, but from here on out, the days slowly start getting longer. A tiny turn towards more light, more warmth… and eventually more Cornish beach days.
