It’s orchid bingo time 😀 🌺 💚

It still amazes me how many of these intriguing beautiful flowers we have in our biodiversity hotspot around Morecambe Bay.

They never fail to make me smile and remind me how hugely lucky I am to live here 😊

Making most of the dry interval to do a recce for some walks I've got coming up.

Lovely to see so much nesting activity and rapidly growing chicks as well as the occasional appearance of the red deer.
Lots of bees and damselflies making the most of the sunny spells 🐝⛅

Also bumped into some old colleagues so had a few minutes of setting the world to rights 😄

A whistle-stop tour to the north of Scotland last week to meet up with family and remember loved ones - the sun shone in Thurso (my birthplace) and it was good to reconnect 💚

It’s that time of year when my camera fills up with pictures of beautiful things 🌺 💚

Spring is when you’ll find me head down, bum in the air searching for botanical beauties 😀
Not only does this fill me with much joy but it also gives me an excuse to escape spreadsheets and political negotiations for a brief period, a well needed rest for my brain 💡

Enjoying a day of rest after an epic 4 day adventure conquering the Hadrians Wall Way with my friend Amy 🏃‍♀️ ☀️

A really varied journey from the mudflats and salt marshes of the west coast through beautiful bluebell woodlands, alongside vibrant hedgerows up onto the vast expanse of the fells where the wall is most visible, and back into the big city of Newcastle with its surprisingly green walkways. Accompanied all the while by the spring birdsong: numerous chiffchaff, curlew, skylark and the occasional cuckoo 🌳 🌺 🐦

Absolutely buzzing at what we achieved and how lucky we were with the weather ☀️ 💚

Huge thanks to all those who look after this incredible national trail 🙏

📣📣📣Eden Project Morecambe: Construction to Begin 24th June 2026📣📣📣

Big news for Morecambe – a confirmed start date has now been announced for Eden Project Morecambe.

Speaking on a BBC Radio 4 programme, CEO Andy Jasper confirmed that construction will begin on 24th June 2026, marking a major milestone for the town’s seafront transformation.

The project remains on track, with the first phase expected to open in early 2027 and the full attraction opening in 2028.

With VINCI Building appointed as the main contractor, the development is set to deliver significant local benefits – including jobs, apprenticeships, and investment into the local economy.

Eden Project Morecambe will celebrate the natural beauty and heritage of Morecambe Bay, creating a landmark destination that supports long-term regeneration and growth.

A positive step forward for the town and a clear sign of continued momentum.
