Have you visited The Hooting Owl Distillery?πŸ¦‰ Yorkshires premier, award winning, artisan spirits distiller & winner of multiple Great Taste awards.

Situated on Rougier Street just a short walk from York train station, within the Bar Walls of one of the most historic and beautiful cities in the world.

Every drop of Hooting Owl gin, rum & vodka is distilled here. Their distillery tour starts with a warm welcome followed by a generous Hooting Owl Signature gin. You’ll tour the distillery, learning about the distillation process and what makes Hooting Owl so special. A light-hearted, fun-packed adventure that you’ll never forget.

Master Distiller, storyteller and founder of Hooting Owl, Dom, will take you on a fun-filled gin adventure, known as the β€˜Tour de Yorkshire’. You’ll discover the journey taken many years ago by Sir Owlfred Tyton Hodgins (The infamous Hooting Owl) when he created his discerning recipes. There’ll be insights into the origins of the brand with a few eyebrow-raising stories thrown in for good measure.

Then into the lounge bar to taste 4 more world-class gins whilst gaining an understanding of how the botanicals influence the flavours and, most importantly, how to maximise your next gin! All this wrapped up in a Hooting Owl tale.

The tour will finish with another full measure of your choice from The Hooting Owl range. No worries if gin isn’t your tipple of choice as they also distil a selection of vodkas and rums which you can sample instead.

Once your tour is complete, you’re welcome to stay and soak up the atmosphere. The lounge bar is open from 12pm to 11pm 7 days a week.πŸ¦‰

Eden Camp Modern History Museum, near Malton in North Yorkshire, plays a vital role in bringing the past to life. Unlike traditional museums, they immerse visitors in authentic, interactive environments that recreate the atmosphere of Britain during World War II.

Housed in a former POW camp, it uses original huts and exhibits to vividly convey the social, military, and civilian experiences of the war years. Eden Camp offers a powerful and engaging way for visitors of all ages to connect on a much deeper level with history, enhancing the understanding of its visitors by allowing them to experience aspects of daily life, technology, and conflict, rather than just reading about them.

Eden Camp's display huts are many and varied. Take a stroll down memory lane and experience a typical 1940’s street in the grips of war. Or experience the chaos and horror of a British town under attack from the air. Carefully make your way through the dark, smoke filled broken street where the stench of burning accompanies the sound of exploding bombs and buildings on fire. Climb aboard the German U-boat & experience life under the waves in the dark, cramped belly of a German submarine under attack. Or step back in time to when Eden Camp was inhabited by Italian and German prisoners of war, & see them relaxing in their barracks after a hard day working in the fields.Or go further back in time to WW1, and negotiate your way across the duck boards of a muddy trench and experience what life was like for millions of soldiers on the battlefields of Belgium and France.

Eden Camp preserves important heritage, promotes public understanding, and plays an enormous part in the North Yorkshire tourism economy, by offering a distinctive, meaningful visitor experience.

Lovely shots of four North Yorkshire churches in a charming watercolour style.

St John the Baptist Church is a welcoming and active church community situated in the heart of the North Yorkshire village of Bishop Monkton near Ripon. They are part of the benefice of Ripon Cathedral.

St Mary's in the village of Bolton on Swale is a Grade I listed building, with many significant architectural specialities. St Mary's also has the memorial of Henry Jenkins who is reputed to have lived until the grand age of 169 years.

The Parish of Easby, Skeeby, Brompton on Swale and Bolton on Swale

St John the Evangelist in the small village of Buttercrambe was probably built around 1240. The Grade II listed church is a Chapel of Ease within the Parish of Bossall.

All Saints in East Cowton is part of Wiske Benefice. A stone church, dedicated to Saint Mary, was built in East Cowton in the 14th century, and largely rebuilt in 1707. It had a nave, chancel, north vestry, south porch, and a small west tower built of brick.
