Congratulations to Mark King MBE 👏
CONGRATULATIONS TO MARK KING, Life Fellow and former Chair of the British Guild of Tourist Guides! 🎉
The Institute of Tourist Guiding and the British Guild of Tourist Guides are delighted to inform their members & supporters that Mark King is awarded an MBE in His Majesty King Charles’ Birthday Honours List - more correctly, a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.
The official citation recognises Mark King 'Fellow of the Institute of Tourist Guiding, Life Fellow and lately Chair of the British Guild of Tourist Guides. For services to Tourism'.
Mark has held the Blue Badge for the London region since qualification in 2010, later adding the Green Badge for the City of London.
Mark’s candidacy was driven through the official protocols by the Institute, with support from the Guild and the Friends of Kenwood.
Guild Chair David Poyser added ‘the ‘badged’ guiding community works through volunteers. It’s so fantastic that the Birthday Honours List has recognised the excellent work contributed by our former Chair Mark King. Professional guides contribute a huge amount to the UK economy. Mark has selflessly set up Conferences, helped all the guiding organisations to work together and led the guiding world with a positive spirit. The Guild and its Executive Council congratulate him and look forward to working with Mark for many years to come.’
Further details of Mark's contribution to the tourist guiding profession will be shared next week.
In the meantime, we hope you will join us in passing many congratulations to Mark!
