Before you travel, I always recommend checking:

✅ The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) travel advice for your destination

✅ Your travel insurance provider's guidance

✅ Official government websites for entry requirements, visas and health regulations

✅ Airline notifications for any schedule changes or disruptions

The FCDO website is the best place to check the latest information on safety, security, local laws, health concerns and any advice against travel to specific regions.

With so much to organise in the run-up to your big break, knowing what and how to pack your bags can seem quite overwhelming.

Here are a few tips to help you on your way!

📋 Pack your ‘survival kit’ in your hand luggage
Bring a small, accessible bag with snacks, refillable water bottles, toys, books, wet wipes, hand sanitiser and a change of clothes, so you’ve got everything you need to make sure your children’s journey is comfortable and enjoyable.

📋 Keep your documents in one place
Use a handy travel wallet to store passports, visas, boarding passes, and medical information for everyone. Make digital backups of all documents and email them to yourself in case of emergencies.

📋 Try using smarter storage solutions
Packing cubes, ziplock bags, plastic wallets - it doesn’t matter which items you use, as long as your essentials are well organised and easy to locate.

📋 Don’t forget your medical kit
It doesn’t need to contain half a hospital - but packing a small medic bag with plasters, painkillers, insect repellent and any prescription medicines will help to set your mind at ease during your journey.

📋 Bring some travel-sized laundry detergent!
This is great for smaller spills and mishaps, and you won’t have to pay for cleaning agent to hand when you reach your destination.
