Before modern battlefield medicine, one woman risked her life caring for wounded soldiers in Crimea. ❤️‍🩹

Mary Seacole travelled from Jamaica to the Crimean War, where she built the British Hotel and treated soldiers directly on the battlefield. Despite being rejected from Florence Nightingale’s nursing team, she became known affectionately as “Mother Seacole.”
