Sicily or Puglia: which destination should you choose for a villa holiday in September or October?

The answer depends less on which region is “better” and more on how you want your days to unfold.

Choose Sicily for a discovery-led journey filled with contrasts. In the south-east, combine Noto’s honey-coloured streets with the wild coastline of Vendicari and a chocolate stop in Modica. In the west, explore Scopello, the coves of the Zingaro Nature Reserve and San Vito Lo Capo.

Choose Puglia for a gentler rhythm and shorter journeys between villages, coast and countryside. Visit Ostuni in the golden evening light, take your time between Locorotondo and Cisternino, and order bombette from a traditional fornello pronto.

Some of the best experiences in Puglia begin with choosing the right time of day.

Visit Alberobello before breakfast and start from Rione Aia Piccola. Choose your bombette at a fornello pronto in Cisternino. See Polignano from the water, then reach Ostuni as the afternoon light begins to warm its white stone.
