Great to catch up with some past, present and future competitors on Scenic Rally Tours at the weekend on the Historic Rally Car Register - HRCR Brecon Motor Club Gremlin Rally.

In the main event (for the hardcore navigators on the maps):

Elliott Dale & Charlotte Ryall – Es**rt- 13th and 6th in Class
Derek & Sue Skinner – Cortina – 43rd and 2nd in Class

In the Clubmans event (Tulip roadbook but no timings other than given speed changes):
Tim Sawyer & Suzanne Barker – Es**rt – 1st
Robert Robinson & Peter Mellor – Audi Coupe – 2nd
Mike & Liz Dixon – MGBGT – 5th
Clare Grove & Rod Hanson – MG Meastro – 6th
Toby & Ali Sleeman – Fiat 124 Spider – 11th

Mark Lillington & myself – VW Golf (if only everything in life was as reliable as a ….) retired towards the end of Reg 4 with what turned out to be a failed fuel pump.

Thanks to Toby Sleeman for giving us a push to clear us of the hill on which we finally ground to a halt on. Having done most of Reg 4 with it stalling at every control and requiring a bump start, it was spluttering up the single track road before stalling and then just would not restart.

At least we had a pleasant view of the valleys whilst waiting for the AA man!

Disappointing as at the end of Reg 3 we were in the lead but to finish first, first you have to finish!

Well done to those that did finish. It was a great event on some great roads with some great tests.

Thanks to Allen Gough for the photos.

Great to see some Scenic Rally Tours competitors out on the Hero Rally for the Ages rally today based out of Bicester Motion.
And whilst managing a Passage Control on a couple of special tests around the airfield who would want to miss an advertising opportunity 😊

Well done to:
Car 40 – Ben Jiggins & Jack Harvey – MGB – 14th and 4th in Class
Car 69 – Richard Stanier & Rebecca Stanier – VW Corrado – 17th and 3rd in Class

Car 76 Simon Dew & Evie Dew in the 1992 Porsche were not included in the results as Class 6 was deemed too modern!

Great to see the next generation enjoying classic cars and regularity rallying.

Car 20 Tim Sawyer & Suzanne Barker - Es**rt - 19th Overall and 2nd in Class (Suzanne has an entry on the 2027 Champagne Rally)
Car 43 Derek & Sue Skinner - Cortina - 37th Overall and 5th in class (Pommeau & Beaujolais 2026)

Unfortunately Claire Grove navigating in the MG Meastro retired with a fuel leak

Car 65 Jon & Jack Harvey - VW Golf- 5th
Car 59 Nigel Mason & Mark Lillington - MGB - 7th
Car 55 Mike & Liz Dixon - MGB - 8th (Pommeau 2026)

The weather was great, tests were fun (hard work with no power steering) and company was great.

That's a wrap on the Pommeau Recce 2....

Great roads (and great weather).

On the transport section after Reg 1 we found a Route Barree that really was a Route Barree! Fortunately it is only due to be closed until the end of July so we should be good in September.

We found plenty of Turbines enroute.

All was going well until 10 miles into the last Reg when we came across a flooded road. Having stopped to assess how deep it was we decided against trying it and rerouted the rest of the Reg to avoid as it did look like it frequently flooded (although it wasn't flooded in March). We didn't wait to see if the local drove through but they also go out to have a look!
