The Golf is back!

Big thanks to Mark and James and the rest of the team at Hillclimb Garage - Downley, High Wycombe, Bucks, UK for resolving the gearbox issue that stopped us from taking part in the Hero Challenge One in Chesterfield. Gearbox rebuilt, new clutch and L*D fitted along with a service so good to go for Hero Challenge Two on 31 May in the Silverstone area. Looking forward to catching up with some Beaujolais 2025 entrants; Mark Lillington, Nigel Mason, Phil & Jackie Walker and Ken Dobbs - apologies if I've missed anybody.

Hopefully news to come in the next month of details of the 2026 Scenic Rally Tour events so watch this space

2025 Beaujolais Route Authorisation Submitted.......

So after hours of drafting the 2025 Roadbook with junctions, chevrons, hydrants, signs etc with appropriate speeds and times all the relevant route GPX files, event timings, safety files etc have all been submitted to the French authorisation portal so fingers crossed.

Some pictures below of the roads that we WONT be using having established Google Maps & Streetview isn't as uptodate as it could be in rural parts of France! They have even built a wind turbine farm and a great gravel area for doughnuts which isn't on Satellite view!

Will keep you posted on progress and in meantime have a great Easter when we get there.

Recce Completed

That's a wrap on the the 2025 Beaujolais Recce.

Some 400 miles whilst out in Montreuil sur Mer checking out the routes, re-writing where a wind turbine has been erected and finding those last posts on the right!

A trip to the local race circuit yesterday in the drizzle and wind turbines today in the glorious sunshine.

Erik has been on top form and is looking forward to seeing everyone in November.

Recce Day 2 and a Special Day

On what would have been Simon Rossiter’s 60th Birthday, please join me in raising a glass.

I only had the pleasure of meeting Simon on the Beaujolais Rallies in 2022 and 2023 but I know he was well loved by the community that took part in Classic Rally Tours events and is sadly missed.
I hope we can continue to run the events he created in way he would approve of.

Yesterday and today my good friend Andrew (Navigated on Tour of Cheshire for me) and I have finalised the four Regs of Day 1 of the 2025 Beaujolais - a few rewrites required to avoid the fast flowing ford, barricaded road and dirt track! I'm sure they looked like on Google Maps. Hopefully some interesting routes and four more Regs to check over the next couple of days!

Beaujolais Recce Prep

Having missed the Beaujolais 2024 Andy Pedrick and Margaret were obviously getting withdrawal symptoms so were in Montreuil sur Mer last week! Thanks for doing the Recce for the Recce and the information received, looking forward to seeing you both in November.

So the ferry is booked, Hermitage Hotel booked, Brantz fitted, route planned and high-level Roadbook written 😊 Hopefully the route works and we can find suitable spots for Timing Points on the Regularities 😉 May be some roads that haven’t been used on a Beaujolais Rally since before 2017 (that’s as far as I have gone back mapping all the events since!). Some “new” venues to check out for stops, and some old favourites! Follow us for regular updates.

Well done to Beaujolais 2025 entrants who took part in the HERO Challenge 2025 in Chesterfield today.

Mark Lillington (& Mark Bramall) - #48 MGB – 6th Overall and 2nd in Class
Doug Carmichael & John Gearing - #58 MGB – 75th Overall and 12th Overall
(Apologies if I missed anybody else)

Myself and Steven Brown were 2.5 miles from Scrutineering in the trusty Golf until it became the untrusty Golf and we lost the clutch (suspected broken clutch pushrod or bearing). Thanks to HERO who towed us to the Hotel so we could at least have a few beers before calling the AA in the morning for a lift home!
Onwards and upwards.
