After a busy year renovating and launching Joe's cottage we decided a break was in order. Thinking that end of November would be quiet we booked some winter sun in Egypt to indulge our love of history. Typically bookings came flying in but thanks to Sarah our lovely housekeeper, Jo Hunt and Jed Hunt we managed to get through. Couple of pics from our day in Luxor and Valley of the King's to prove we got there.

Well something new for our guests to explore. Our beautiful city of Carlisle is undergoing regeneration and there are many new markets and features happening to wander around.

The Teenage Market is returning to Carlisle city centre on Saturday 11 October.

Part market, part music festival, 100% high energy! Made up of young entrepreneurs, performers, and tastemakers from the local area, set to dazzle you with their creativity.

The market will be open 10am-3.30pm.

As we move to more work outside, it's time to woden the gateway so more than just a horse and cart can get through. A few little finds as we dismantle the old wall to move the old sandstone gate stoop.

Well it's been a long road with Joe's cottage, but we are nearly ready to receive guests. Yesterday marked a big step with the first photos taken by our agents for their website. Open from1st September. Link to follow soon.

The clematis we have been carefully nurturing for 3 years has finally shown its blooms this year and in great amounts. It was originally a small woody stem caught up in a buddleia so it's lovely to see it winding it's way up the wall at No 7.

Oh dear it's such a long time since we posted on our FB page. 2024 was a difficult year for us as we coped with a lot over the year as well as being super busy in Staffield Cottage.

Unfortunately early in the year our wonderful friend and neigh our at Staffield, Joe passed away. Joe was a fixture in the local community having lived there for over 30 years, and he welcomed many of our guests and made friends with them, gaining many lovely comments in our reviews.

After much thought and taking on board conversations with Joe over the years we approached the landlord of his cottage and made an offer to purchase it. We are pleased to say this was accepted and we are now working to open the 2nd property in our portfolio.

In honour of Joe we will be calling this 'Joe's cottage'. We hope it will be ready to welcome guests at Easter and that the lovely warmth Joe brought to Staffield will continue to be felt by those visiting this lovely sandstone cottage.
