Well what a summer we’ve had! ☀️
Richard was certainly busy with his paintbrush between welcoming guests. After weeks of sunshine, we’re more thankful than ever for a little rain to bring the grass and gardens back to life 🌿

This is The Carrs with its private enclosed south facing patio and garden, dog friendly and with a little availability this autumn including October half term week.

✨ Illuminated Whitby Abbey is back ✨

See Whitby Abbey in a whole new light this October! The Gothic ruins will be transformed by dramatic illuminations from 23–31 October 2026 creating a spectacular atmosphere, and adding a spooky twist to your half term.

And, of course, at Whitby there’s always a touch of Dracula..

Just a short drive from Pickering, Helmsley is a characterful market town with a great selection of independent shops and cosy cafes. Great for a relaxed lunch or afternoon tea and a mooch around the shops. Helmsley Castle and Walled Garden are also well worth a visit, as is the nearby National Centre for Birds of Prey at Duncombe Park, open year round.

If you fancy stretching your legs, we highly recommend the 6-mile circular walk along the Cleveland Way, a level path which winds through beautiful countryside before reaching the atmospheric Rievaulx Abbey nestled in a peaceful and picturesque valley 🍃

Tucked away in a peaceful corner of the orchard, this beautiful cottage now enjoys even more privacy thanks to a newly planted hedge enclosing the space.
