Our popular “Overground and Underground! Discover the rich history of Southampton!” tour is running every Saturday and Sunday throughout June at 10:30am — and we’d love to welcome you along.

Join our professionally trained heritage guides at the Bargate (North Side) for a fascinating journey through Southampton’s medieval vaults, ancient walls, and hidden stories that shaped the city we know today.

On Sunday, 10 May, Friends of Southampton Old Cemetery (FoSOC) are celebrating, at the cemetery, the 180th anniversary of its opening on Southampton Common.
The event is free.
The talk will be given by FoSOC Founder Chairman, Geoff, who is also a member of Southampton Tourist Guides Association. Titled 'A Porch of Eternity', it will explain why, and how, Southampton came to have a new cemetery in 1846, the cemetery being, historically, an important one in this country.
