๐Ÿš๐Ÿ”๏ธ DAYS 10, 11 & 12 BANFF, CANMORE & ONWARDS TO CALGARY! ๐Ÿค

Well, after the huge hike nearly removed the use of our legs altogether, we decided that today was officially a REST DAY. ๐Ÿ˜‚

We packed up at Lake Louise RV site and headed the short 45-minute drive to Banff. Lovely! An easy drive, beautiful scenery.

We parked up and headed into the iconic town of Banff, and what a lovely place it is! Think beautiful mountain backdrops, lovely little shops, restaurants, bars, coffee shops and enough things to do to keep you busy for days.

And if hiking isnโ€™t your thing, thereโ€™s still loads to choose from rafting, biking, mountain gondola rides, tours, distilleries.

We had a wander around, did a little shopping and generally mooched about.

Then at 3:30pm, we headed off for something completely different a Cowboy Cookout with Banff Trail Riders! ๐Ÿค ๐ŸŽ

We arrived at the stables and climbed aboard a horse drawn wagon for a lovely, chilled out ride alongside the Bow River. It was such a beautiful way to see the area, and for once we were able to enjoy the scenery without having to haul ourselves up a mountain!

After about an hour, we arrived at the cookout.

There were cowboys ( and cowgirls ) cooking steaks on the BBQ, veggie options for me, loads of sides, a huge blazing fire and that amazing feeling of being right out in the wilderness.

We sat around the fire, ate, chatted and soaked up the atmosphere.

Banff has been iconic The scenery is ridiculous, the adventures have been epic and weโ€™re making memories that weโ€™ll be talking about for years.

We stayed in Canmore rather than Banff and Iโ€™m glad we did as Banff is lovely but lots of day trippers Canmore has the scenery and a cool vibe with plenty of restaurants and bars and shops and a big supermarket and close enough to go into Banff.

We had dinner in Canmore on our last night in the Rv retired for the night.

The next morning we planned a very short walk just as a leg stretch before we drove to Calgary but perfectly timed we woke up to rain rather than sun so we packed up and headed to Calgary ready for our flight to Montreal for 1 night before we head home.

Day 8 & 9 ๐ŸŸ Lake Louise ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ”๏ธ

We said goodbye to Jasper bright and early and headed towards Lake Louise along the Icefields Parkwayโ€ฆ and honestly, the drive itself deserves its own blog post! ๐Ÿคฏ

I have NEVER seen views like it. Every few minutes we were saying, โ€œWOWโ€ฆ look at that!โ€ and then turning the corner to another view even more spectacular. ๐Ÿ˜‚

The only problem? You could stop EVERYWHERE. The road is absolutely crammed with hikes, waterfalls, lakes and viewpoints, ranging from a casual 2km stroll to 40k hikes.

Our first stop was Sunwapta Falls, where we did a fab little hike and had some lunch before getting back on the road.

We passed the famous Peyto Lake, Bow Lake and Yoho National Park, with the scenery getting more and more ridiculous as we went.

Eventually, we arrived at Lake Louise and so did EVERYONE ELSE! ๐Ÿ˜‚ It was definitely getting busier the closer we got.

We headed to the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, dropped off the RV and checked into the Gold Lounge Concierge with a glass of fizz for me and a b**r for Jase. ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿบ

Then came the moment I had been dreaming about for the last five nightsโ€ฆ

THE BATH. ๐Ÿ›๐Ÿ˜

After five nights living in an RV, I was practically giddy at the thought of getting into a proper bath. Yes, the RV shower is lovely and gets ridiculously hotโ€ฆ but itโ€™s NOT A BATH! ๐Ÿ˜‚

And to make things even better, our room had a fabulous view over Lake Louise. ๐Ÿฅฐ

After my long awaited bath, we headed out around the lake for some iconic photos and a mooch around. The lake was absolutely stunning although it was also absolutely rammed with day trippers!

So we retreated back to the room for another luxury a long shower and a proper hair wash. Honestly, the little things after five nights in an RV! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Then it was back to the Gold Lounge for canapรฉs and drinks before sitting beside the patio fire. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿธ

And then came the highlight of the eveningโ€ฆ

The Basin Experience in the Fairmontโ€™s brand new multimillion pound spa. ๐Ÿง–๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธโœจ

We went during the 8:30pm Twilight Hour and WOWโ€ฆ what a place!

There are loads of treatments, an indoor pool that leads outside, outdoor pools and jacuzzis it was absolutely brilliant. I would HIGHLY recommend it if you ever get the chance to stay here.

We finally retired for the night at the ridiculously late time ofโ€ฆ

10:30pm. Living on the edge tonight.

Day 9 ๐Ÿฅพ๐Ÿ”๏ธ
The next morning I checked out the gym and hotel pool and jacuzzi before heading for breakfast in the Gold Lounge.

Then it was time to put the hiking boots back on! ๐Ÿฅพ

There are loads of hikes starting from Lake Louise, and we chose Plain of Six Glaciers, returning via Mirror Lake.

587m elevation laterโ€ฆ and WOW. ๐Ÿ˜

Every step was worth it because when we reached the summit, we were greeted by incredible ice and snow capped mountains. The views were absolutely breathtaking.

Definitely one for any keen hiker.

We even had lunch at the summit, when I say lunch at the summit, I mean a stolen lounge sandwich for Jase (from the breakfast buffet) and two boiled eggs for me.

We are so rock โ€˜nโ€™ roll. ๐Ÿฅช๐Ÿฅš

We then started making our way back towards Mirror Lake and eventually down to Lake Louise.

Another incredible couple of days, another million photos, another set of memories weโ€™ll never forget. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ”๏ธ

And nowโ€ฆ

OFF WE GO TO LAKE LOUISE RV PARK FOR THE NIGHT, ready for the next adventure Canmore & Banff! ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ

๐ŸŒง๏ธ DAY 5, 6 & 7 โ€” CLEARWATER & JASPER ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ
Wellโ€ฆ these three days have been a bit of a mixed bag! ๐Ÿ˜‚

We left Peachland heading for Clearwater and, honestly, the rain was TERRITORIAL. Torrential doesnโ€™t quite cover it. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

3.5 hours later we arrived in Clearwater, which Iโ€™m sure is absolutely lovely when itโ€™s not cold, dark and raining sideways! ๐Ÿ˜‚ We had some lovely walks planned, including waterfalls, but looking out the van window we were beginning to think our holiday had accidentally turned into a survival documentary.

We pulled into our stop for the night and, with the weather as it was, Iโ€™m not going to lieโ€ฆ it looked suspiciously like the opening scene of a horror movie. ๐Ÿ‘ป

We checked in, had some lunch in the van and stared longingly at the sky, waiting for a break in the clouds.

Nothing.

Soโ€ฆ out came the map. ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ

I somehow managed to convince Jason that rather than sit there feeling sorry for ourselves, we should just power through the rain and head further towards Mount Robson the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. ๐Ÿ’ช

So off we went!

We arrived at Mount Robson RV Park praying they had a spaceโ€ฆ and BONUS! They had a little rock-up-and-pay spot for our RV. Result! ๐Ÿ™Œ

We bedded down for the night and I decided Jason had definitely earned a b**r. ๐Ÿบ An early night was very much on the cards.

BUTโ€ฆ

There was a slight problem.

We had run out of water. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚

We were on a non-serviced pitch and couldnโ€™t understand how on earth we had managed that.

The following day, after seeking help like two complete idiots abroad, we discovered the answerโ€ฆ

Back in Peachland, on our serviced pitch, we had connected the water up WRONG. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

WHOOPS.

Apparently, renting an RV does not automatically make you an RV expert.

๐Ÿš๐Ÿ’ฆ Rookie mistake.

Thankfully, we woke up the next morning toโ€ฆ

โ˜€๏ธ NO RAIN!

YIPEEEEE! ๐ŸŽ‰

So we headed off early for our hike to Kinney Lake.

And what a place.

We didnโ€™t see another person for ages and had this incredible trail almost completely to ourselves. We walked alongside the most powerful, mesmerising water, with huge rushing torrents opening out into the most peaceful, beautiful lake.

We stopped and had breakfast beside the lake in complete silence.

Just us, the mountains, the water and that feeling of โ€œbloody hell, look where we are!โ€ ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿ”๏ธ

On the way back, the hikers had started appearing everywhere, so clearly our early start was a very good decision!

Once back at the van, we headed towards Jasper. Because we had done the long drive in the rain the day before, we were now only about an hour away. ๐Ÿš๐Ÿ’จ

We arrived in Jasper, had a wander around the town and grabbed something to eat.

Then came the glamorous side of van lifeโ€ฆ

๐Ÿ’ง Fill up the water
๐Ÿšฝ Empty the bog (or, as we now professionally call it, the โ€œblue jobโ€) ๐Ÿ˜‚

And Iโ€™m pleased to announceโ€ฆ

WE ARE NOW PROS.

Honestly, give us another week and weโ€™ll be teaching courses. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Early night again and then up the next morning for a little bit of work before heading out for more exploring.

We attempted a few different hikes, but unfortunately some were still closed due to the devastating Jasper wildfires in 2024. There is still so much rebuilding going on, and it really brings home just how much damage was done.

We did manage to hike up Old Fort Point Summit, though, and WOW.

Lots of steps.
Very steep.
Several moments of questioning our life choices. ๐Ÿ˜‚

But the views, Absolutely incredible. ๐Ÿ”๏ธโค๏ธ

After that it was time for lunch before heading towards the Athabasca River and exploring some more of the beautiful lakes and trails around Jasper.

And then

๐ŸฆŒ ELK! Grazing and staring at us. It was amazing to see these beauties.

On the way back, the sun was still shining, so naturally we had absolutely no choice but to stop at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.

I mean , it would have been rude not to. ๐Ÿ˜‚

A gorgeous terrace, sunshine, a glass of something fabulous ๐Ÿฅ‚ and a little nosey around the Fairmont.

Perfect.

We walked back to the van & headed back into Jasper for the evening and thenโ€ฆ

EARLY NIGHT.

Because DAY 8 we head towards LAKE LOUISE! ๐Ÿ”๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

And I am VERY excited because weโ€™re staying atโ€ฆ

โœจ FAIRMONT CHร‚TEAU LAKE LOUISE โœจ

I have a feeling this one might be a little bit specialโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ”๏ธ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ DAY 3 & 4

๐Ÿ”๏ธ PEACHLAND RV ADVENTURES, MOUNTAINS & ONE VERY UNWELCOME SNAKE! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ˜‚

We picked up the RV from Fraserway using their free shuttle service, which was nice and easy. We checked in, had our full RV introduction and learned all about how everything works.

Then came the moment of truthโ€ฆ

OFF WE DROVE! ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿš๐Ÿ’จ YIKES!!

Two people who have absolutely no idea what theyโ€™re doing, driving a massive RV across Canada. What could possibly go wrong? ๐Ÿ˜‚

We headed East for just under 400km and arrived at Peachland, where we pulled into Toddโ€™s Lakeside RV site. We were greeted by a lovely chap who checked us in, and then it was time to put our newly acquired RV skills to the test.

Letโ€™s just sayโ€ฆ it was a little like the blind leading the blind! ๐Ÿคฃ

But somehow, we managed it! We had water, electricity and everything actually worked.

BOOM! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿš

We had a wander around the lakeside, chilled out and started planning our next adventure hiking up Pincushion Mountain.

๐ŸŒ„ THE NEXT MORNINGโ€ฆ

We actually had our best nightโ€™s sleep yet! We sat outside having breakfast overlooking the lake while watching a rather dramatic, stormy sky.

Then the weather decided it wasnโ€™t quite dramatic enough and threw a THUNDERSTORM at us! โ›ˆ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚

So we sat and worked for a couple of hours before finally heading out for our first hike in Peachland.

๐Ÿฅพ PINCUSHION MOUNTAIN HIKE

First challenge, walking for about an hour just to reach the start of the hike mostly uphill, obviously.

Just what Jason needed to get warmed up! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Then the real climb startedโ€ฆ

UP. UP. UP. ๐Ÿฅต

It was STEEP, and there wasnโ€™t another person in sight. Just us, the mountain and whatever wildlife fancied making an appearance.

We spotted chipmunks, birds, squirrelsโ€ฆ ๐Ÿฟ๏ธ๐Ÿฆ

And thenโ€ฆ

A SNAKE! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Letโ€™s just say Jason discovered that mountain edges and unexpected snakes are not a good combination. There was nearly a very dramatic change of direction and possibly a short flight off the mountain! ๐Ÿ˜‚

After just over an hour of climbing, we finally reached the top. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ”๏ธ

We had a well earned 10-minute rest and discovered a time capsule and notebook at the summit. Naturally, we left our own little notes before starting the descent.

Back down the mountain, then back into townโ€ฆ another 30 minute walk to find some restaurants and bars.

By this point, you can imagine what Jason was saying! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

We found a local bar, which appeared to be the official headquarters of the Peachland pensioners ๐Ÿ˜‚, so we sat, chilled out and soaked up the local atmosphere before finding somewhere to grab a bite to eat.

Then came the 40-minute walk back to the RVโ€ฆ

Except, we spotted the local bus! ๐ŸšŒ๐Ÿ™Œ

We flagged it down, and the lovely driver took pity on us and dropped us as close as she could to Toddโ€™s which isnโ€™t actually on the bus route!

Absolute result! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘

Back at the RV, feet up, exhausted but happy.

Another brilliant day of our Canadian adventure done. ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆโค๏ธ

CLEARWATER, HERE WE COME! on Day 5.

๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ VANCOUVER Youโ€™ve Definitely Won Me Over! ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ
Wellโ€ฆ of course we stayed in TWO hotels in Vancouver. ๐Ÿคฃ Why stay in one when you can try two?!

๐Ÿจ Hotel No. 1 - Sutton Place
A traditional, older-style 5โญ hotel in a great location. Good service, good quality and absolutely does what it says on the tin!
I wouldnโ€™t say I was wowwwed, but itโ€™s a solid, comfortable 5โญ hotel with a pool area and hot tub. The gym gets top marks from me, though! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿคฃ

There are also some lovely restaurants onsite which looked seriously good quality.

๐Ÿจ Hotel No. 2 โ€” Paradox Vancouver
Now THIS one was more my cup of tea! ๐Ÿ˜
A luxury independent lifestyle boutique hotel with a dark, quirky vibe, fantastic artwork, funky bars and an amazing rooftop terrace with a pool and jacuzzi.

And our roomโ€ฆ WOW! ๐Ÿคฉ A gorgeous room with a wraparound balcony, freestanding bath and pretty spectacular views from every angle.

The service was exactly what youโ€™d expect from a 5โญ hotel and, all in all, it was a superb stay.

I genuinely loved this hotel and will definitely be recommending it to the right clients in the future.

Only negativeโ€ฆ NO SQUAT RACK IN THE GYM! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

๐ŸŒ† Vancouver โ€” What a City!
Honestly, Vancouver has absolutely blown me away.
In my opinion, itโ€™s way better than NYC.

Itโ€™s quirky, interesting, diverse and has SO much going on. Plenty for families, loads of nightlife, an absolute foodie haven, outdoor summer events, great shopping and, surprisingly, it doesnโ€™t feel ridiculously overpriced. Also feels relaxed and not like a super busy city. Super green and beautiful too ๐ŸŒฒ.

Itโ€™s also really easy to get around, with lots of areas being compact and incredibly walkable.

And the more I see of Vancouver, the more I love it. โค๏ธ

Iโ€™m already thinking about when I can come back!

๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ Day One
Letโ€™s See How Much We Can Cram In!
Our first full day was basically a walking tour on steroids! ๐Ÿคฃ
We covered:

๐Ÿ“ Granville Island
๐ŸšŒ ๐Ÿšค The AquaBus
๐Ÿ“ Yaletown
๐Ÿ“ Chinatown
๐Ÿ“ Gastown & the famous Clock Tower
๐Ÿ“ Downtown
๐Ÿ“ The Waterfront
๐Ÿ“ Coal Harbour
๐Ÿ“ Robson Street
๐Ÿ“ The West End

All in ONE day!

26,500 steps. 20km. ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ

Because apparently sitting down is simply not an option when youโ€™re on holiday! ๐Ÿ˜‚

๐Ÿšฒ Day Two Stanley Park
After a workout ๐Ÿ’ช and a coffee on our balcony โ˜•๏ธ, we headed towards Stanley Park to hire bikes for the morning.
And WOWโ€ฆ this was amazing! ๐Ÿšฒ๐ŸŒฒ

I highly recommend cycling around the park. Itโ€™s mostly flat, there are dedicated bike lanes and loads of places to stop along the way.

The route is around 10km, taking roughly 1โ€“2 hours depending on how often you stop and how fast you pedal.

We also jumped on the horse and carriage ride, which was a lovely way to see parts of the park we hadnโ€™t covered on the bikes. ๐Ÿด

It was great to sit back, relax and listen to our guide sharing facts and pointing out things weโ€™d completely missed.

Then we had just enough time to squeeze in the aquarium, which was great fun and I can imagine it being brilliant with kids. ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿฆญ

๐Ÿน And Finallyโ€ฆ Happy Hour!
After all that activity, we followed our noses back towards the hotel and stumbled across a lovely waterfront bar with a happy hour.
Wellโ€ฆ after 20km of walking and a morning of cycling, it would have been rude NOT to take advantage! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿน

Early night tonightโ€ฆ

Because Tuesday ( Day 3 ) is the BIG ONE! ๐Ÿš๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Weโ€™re collecting the RV and heading off towards Kelowna / Peachland, with a few cheeky stops along the way, I imagine!

Let the Canadian adventure continueโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆโค๏ธ๐Ÿš

Not many pics yet they will follow โ€ฆ..
