If you’re travelling to or from London Luton Airport or using the M1 motorway overnight in the coming weeks, please allow extra time for your journey.

🚧 M1 OVERNIGHT CLOSURES 🚧

National Highways will be carrying out essential maintenance work on the M1 between Junction 9 and Junction 11A.

📅 From: Monday 8th June 2026
⏰ Times: Weeknights (Monday–Friday), 9:00pm–5:00am
📍 Location: M1 between Junction 9 (Friars Wash Interchange) and Junction 11A (Chalton Interchange)

⚠️ During these hours, the M1 will be closed in both directions between Junctions 9 and 11A, with diversion routes in place.

✈️ Flying from London Luton Airport?
If you have an early morning flight or are travelling late at night, please leave plenty of extra time to reach the airport.

🛠️ The works include:
✅ Road resurfacing
✅ New road markings
✅ Replacement road studs (cat’s eyes)
✅ Upgraded technology to improve traffic management and driver information

Once completed, drivers will benefit from a safer and smoother journey.
