to 2023, when our hometown of Thirsk was transformed into a 1940s film set for All Creatures Great and Small.

This footage was captured during the filming of Mrs Hall’s date night with Gerald Hammond at The Ritz Cinema, Thirsk

As locals, it was fascinating to watch period costumes, vintage shopfronts and classic vehicles appear almost overnight as one of Yorkshire’s most-loved television series came to town.

Many visitors know Thirsk as the hometown of the real James Herriot (Alf Wight) and home to The World Of James Herriot. For us, it is simply home, which makes moments like this even more special.
