Saturday night may not have ended with a sash, but in our eyes Michelle was already a winner.
What started as a challenge from her students became a journey that captured the hearts of so many. Michelle entered the Cork Rose Selection to show young people that they should never be afraid to put themselves forward, believe in themselves, and step outside their comfort zone.
Throughout this journey she represented everything we know her to be – kind, hardworking, genuine, and committed to making a difference in the lives of the children she teaches and carries safely to school each day.
Her performance on stage was both heartfelt and deeply moving. Sharing the story of Billy Bob Joe and the children who inspired her journey, Michelle reminded everyone of the importance of kindness, connection, and simply being there for others. It was a moment that resonated throughout the room and, judging by the emotion and reaction from those present, won the hearts of many.
The support, encouragement, and warmth shown towards Michelle throughout the night were a testament to the impact she has on those around her. While the judges make the final decision, Michelle left the stage with something equally special – the admiration and respect of countless people who were touched by her story.
From all of us at Lehane's of Banteer, congratulations Michelle. Thank you for representing your students, your community, and your family with such pride. You are an inspiration to so many, and we have no doubt that the young people looking up to you today have learned a valuable lesson: sometimes the bravest thing you can do is simply put yourself forward.
We could not be prouder of her. She may not have taken home the title, but she certainly won the hearts of the room.
