Meet The Tour Guides

Tommy is a local history buff with a warm and charming personality and a genuine passion for the stories that make our town unique. While history may be his hobby, his knowledge goes far beyond the dates and facts found in the history books.
A walk with Tommy is much more than a history lesson, it’s a chance to see the town through the eyes of someone who knows it, loves it and enjoys sharing its stories with others. Whether you're a visitor discovering the area for the first time or a local who thinks they know the town, Tommy is sure to uncover a story or two that will surprise you.

Going to be a fantastic Culture Night event

Step back in time to the year of 1661 for "A Tale of Florence Newton".
Presented by Spirit of Youghal Events, as part of Culture Night 2026, this immersive story will transport you into one of Ireland's most famous witch trials.

Accused of bewitching Mary Longdon and causing the death of David Jones, she was imprisoned and tortured at the age of 65. The outcome of the trial is unknown.

But who was the real Florence Newton? Was she simply a begger woman or a gifted healer with a remarkable knowledge of herbs and medicinal plants? Did she truly posses supernatural powers, or was she simply a victim of circumstance?

"A Tale of Florence Newton" will make you question everything you thought you knew about "The Witch of Youghal"
Blending historical records with original research and presenting new theories, this unique event will leave you with a mixture of emotions as we blend humour with tragedy.

Suitable for all ages and runs from 7pm to 9pm
