Asaf Salomon is a certified Israeli tour guide with a BA in Jewish history and archaeology from Hebrew University and is completing his MA in Middle East studies and Islam in Bar Ilan University. He has worked for over 8 years in the PR and VIP division of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, and has led many missions and tours around the country. Asaf is passionate about his work and sharing his love of the land of Israel and its people, through historical stories, personal experiences and hands-on learning and specializes in tours of Jerusalem and the Old City. Besides guiding heads of states and officials, famous celebrities and even Pope Francis during his visit to the Western Wall in 2014, Asaf has led many youth groups and family groups as well as individuals on exciting and educational tours throughout Israel.

Here are some things you can do with kids in the north of Israel.
Taking into consideration that traveling with three generations isn't easy.
Different points of interest, attention and ability could be challenging, but this time could also be so rewarding and create life time memories and family experiences.

* A driver/guide makes it much easier and allows parents to focus on the kids and their experience
* Because it's summer time, every day includes a water activity
* Days are planned to be fun and educational, and aimed for the whole family to enjoy.

What do we know about the tradition of putting notes in the Kotel? When does it start? What do people write in them?
Have you noticed the writings etched in the wall?
When you look carefully at the Western wall, you notice names of people written on the stones. They are higher than the level of the plaza today as they were done when the surface where Jews were praying was higher, before 1967.
Most of them are written in Hebrew, names of people to pray for.
They are found all along the Western and also the southern wall. No one really knows how old are the earliest ones, but at least several of hundreds of years.
It's probably the source of the tradition of writing notes.

It's interesting to try and identify the names and maybe find some stories of the Jews who visited the wall.

I would ask them what they were praying for?
And what do you pray for?
