Ever wondered why one of Rokkosan’s most popular trails is named after "spilled oil"? 🍶🧗♂️
In our latest Mountain Report, we are diving into the history of the Aburakobushi (油コブシ) trail!
Back in the day, local merchants had to carry heavy wooden tubs of Nada rapeseed oil over the rugged mountain to Arima Onsen. The trail was so steep and rocky that exhausted traders constantly tripped—spilling their precious cargo and earning the slope the nickname "Abura-koboshi" (Oil-Spilling Slope)!
