It’s honestly a beautiful place to visit with little ones but pacing makes all the difference. A few things I always suggest would be try not to stack long drives back to back. What looks like 3-4 hours on Google can easily turn into 5-6 with traffic and stops.
Hill country roads are scenic but windy, so lighter days work better there.
Beach bases like Unawatuna, Mirissa or Trincomalee are great because you can unpack once and just do relaxed day trips.
And always allow buffer time. Kids don’t follow itineraries.
Sri Lanka isn’t a country you need to rush. Slower plans usually turn into better memories.
If anyone’s unsure about realistic travel times between places, happy to share some insight.
