After a day behind the wheel, the pace changes. The fire is lit, dinner is prepared, the stars come out and the Namib becomes incredibly quiet.

This is the other side of our Lüderitz to Walvis Bay expedition - not the towering dunes or the challenging drives, but the evenings in between.

And while you’re properly off-grid, you’re well looked after. The expedition is fully catered, with three meals a day, campsite facilities, mobile showers and two nights at Meob included.

Sometimes the moments you remember most are the quiet ones.

A very special sighting in the Walvis Bay Lagoon. 🦩

Our guide Steven captured something he had never witnessed here before - an adult Greater Flamingo feeding a chick during the day.

Flamingo chicks are fed a nutrient-rich secretion produced by the adults, often referred to as crop milk. Feeding can last around 2–5 minutes in smaller chicks and up to 20 minutes in larger chicks, and takes place mainly at night.

Seeing this behaviour during daylight - and away from their breeding grounds - is particularly rare, so we're very happy Steven managed to capture it on camera!

A beautiful reminder to always keep your eyes open in Namibia.
