🌧️🌿 CAN NEPAL BE EXPERIENCED DURING THE MONSOON?

We decided to find out for ourselves.

For MMV Field Recce #1, our team walked the route from Sanga to Panauti during the monsoon.

Approx. 3–4 hours.
Moderate.
Forest paths.
Village life.
Green hills.
Local landscapes.

It wasn't about finding the perfect weather.

It was about understanding what the experience is actually like.

And this is what we discovered:

Monsoon creates a completely different Nepal.

The forests become intensely green.
The countryside feels alive.
The trails are quieter.
And village life becomes part of the journey.

This is one of the experiences we're developing for our new MMV Short Breaks collection.

Because we don't want to simply tell travellers that an experience is possible.

We walk it before we recommend it.

💬 Would you consider visiting Nepal during the monsoon for a short, nature-and-culture-focused escape?

I'd really like to hear your thoughts.

🌿 What if your next Nepal journey didn't need to be a long trek?

There is another way to experience Nepal.

A quiet forest trail.
A traditional village.
Terraced hills.
A conversation along the way.
The rhythm of everyday life.

For our first MMV Field Recce, we walked from Sanga to Panauti -approximately 3–4 hours through the green hills and villages of the Kathmandu Valley.

And we deliberately chose to do it during the monsoon.

Why?

Because we wanted to discover whether a short escape like this could work during one of Nepal's quieter travel periods.

The result was a Nepal at its greenest — lush forests, misty hills, quieter paths and a completely different atmosphere.

Of course, monsoon conditions can make trails wet and slippery, so not every route is suitable. That's precisely why we go and check them ourselves.

We walk it before we recommend it.

This experience is now becoming part of our new Short Breaks collection — designed for travelers looking for authentic Nepal experiences without needing to embark on a multi-day trek.

Indian tourists are helping fill Pokhara's hotels—even during the off-season!

According to recent reports, approximately 150,000 Indian visitors travelled to Pokhara within a short period, pushing hotel occupancy to nearly 90%.

This raises an interesting question:

Could our closest neighbor help create a more resilient, year-round tourism economy for Nepal?

While discussions often focus on crowding and visitor behavior, Indian tourists are also:

✔️ Supporting local businesses
✔️ Creating jobs
✔️ Helping hotels during the low season
✔️ Bringing new opportunities for tourism growth

With visa-free travel, easy accessibility, and shared cultural ties, India remains one of Nepal's most important tourism markets.

As Nepal's tourism industry continues to grow, how can we better welcome and manage this opportunity sustainably?
