It was great to welcome Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School back to Aotearoa for another rugby tour.

Getting the fixtures right is such an important part of a sports tour. We work to find opposition that suits the age and playing level of each team, so the games are competitive, enjoyable and a positive experience for everyone on the field.

We loved having Farrer Memorial back in NZ and hearing how much the boys enjoyed getting out there and playing. 🏉

A huge well done to the Global Games team and everyone behind the scenes who put so much into making the weekend happen – and of course to all 53 teams who took to the field. 👏

NZJRF Queenstown 2026

A huge congratulations to all the young players who participated in the NZJRF Queenstown 2026!

Despite challenging weather conditions, every team embraced the values of the Global Games to ensure they played with pride and sportsmanship when they represented their Club on a national stage.

With 53 teams from the top of the North Island to the Deep South; the atmosphere was incredible and there were just so many happy faces playing the game they love.

None of it would be possible without all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes with the teams, Clubs, families, supporters and communities who put in so much to organise this special end of season tour. You are the Global Games and this is your festival.

A huge thank you to all the other people and organisations who come together to make this happen for our tamariki:

One school. Three sports. One tour. 🏉🏑🏐

A recent school group travelled from the UK to New Zealand with six teams across rugby, netball and hockey – each with their own sporting programme, while sharing the wider tour experience together.

That means different fixtures, opposition and coaching opportunities for each sport, all coordinated around one school itinerary.

It’s a great way to give more students the opportunity to tour, while each team still gets an experience built around their sport.

Different sports. Different experiences. One tour.

Thinking about a sports tour but not sure where to start? You don’t need to have it all figured out.

Start with your team, your sport and what you’d love players to get from the experience.

From there, we can help shape the destination, fixtures, coaching opportunities, experiences and logistics around what works for you.

Every team is different. Their tour should be too.

A handy reminder for our rural schools and sports clubs!

The Sport NZ Rural Travel Fund helps eligible rural junior teams with the cost of travelling to regular sporting competitions and practices – and it’s administered through participating councils across Aotearoa.

It’s worth checking with your own local council to see whether they participate in the fund and when applications open in your area.

Planning to travel to and from regular sporting events, including competitions and practices? Rural school and club teams are reminded to apply for financial support through the Summer Rural Travel Fund by Friday 4 September ⚽️🏒🎾🏏

Next week, the NZ Junior Rugby Festival returns to Queenstown for one of the most anticipated weekends on the junior rugby calendar.

And this year, it arrives as an award-winning event, after taking home both Sport Event of the Year and Sustainability Initiative of the Year at the NZ Events Association Awards. 👏

From 28 August, teams will come together for three huge days of rugby, connection and everything that makes the Global Games festival atmosphere so special.

We’re proud to be part of it again as a Global Games sponsor and can’t wait to see it all kick off.

Who’s ready? 👊🏉

Some of the best moments on tour start with a fixture. 🤝

Taking on a local team gives students the chance to experience a different sporting environment, test themselves against new opposition and connect with other young people through the sport they love.

And often, it’s what happens around the game that sticks with them - the welcome from the host school, conversations on the sideline and the post-match kōrero between teams.

Tauranga Girls’ College Sport are just one of the fantastic host schools who help make these experiences possible. A huge thank you to them, and to all the schools and clubs who open their doors to our touring teams. 🫶

Huge congratulations to the Global Games team! 👏

The NZ Junior Rugby Festival is such a special event on the junior rugby calendar and one we look forward to every year, so it’s fantastic to see it recognised with Sport Event of the Year and Sustainability Initiative of the Year.

We know just how much work goes on behind the scenes to make the festival what it is. A massive well done to everyone involved; so well deserved!

Global Games NZ Junior Rugby Festival has been named Sport Event of the Year, as well as Sustainability Initiative of the Year at the awards.

These awards belong to far more than just us. They belong to every volunteer, coach, referee, manager, parent, sponsor, partner and rugby club who has believed in the vision and helped bring it to life.

Our incredible team, clubs and communities across New Zealand are the heart of Global Games. Together, we’re creating world class sporting experiences, lifelong memories and opportunities for our greatest asset our young people.

We’re incredibly proud of this moment, but even more excited about what’s still to come. ❤️

Welcome to Aotearoa, Bradford Grammar!

There's nothing quite like seeing a tour come to life.

This week, Hine has been in Auckland to see Bradford Grammar in action, from professional rugby and netball coaching clinics to their first fixture against St Kentigern College.

A big thanks to St Kentigern College for hosting and helping get the tour off to a great start.

Have an awesome tour, Bradford Grammar. We'll be cheering you on from the sidelines! 👏
