Located in the Tambopata National Reserve, our Sandoval Lake lodge Lodgese located on Lake Sandoval, considered one of the most beautiful in the Peruvian Amazon. This privileged location allows you to visit the lake in the early morning or evening hours where wildlife is most active. No other lodge in Tambopata-Madidi is located beside a lake. The Sandoval Lake Lodge has 25 double rooms private baths, hot water, ventilation and electricity. I will go to the boat docks of the Tambopata River. Here we board a powerful motorized dugout canoe and set off to the nearby confluence of the mighty Madre de Dios River, a headwaters tributary of the Amazon. Here we turn downstream for a 25 minute river landing on the trailhead to Sandoval Lake. We walk a path of 3km / 2 mile stopping to watch birds and butterflies, to reach a narrow canal boat. From there we navigate the flooded palm forest that leads to the open waters of this peaceful lake. Our crew paddle us across to the lodge (as we are booking engines are banned).
